Review summary

We had an amazing time in the views were absolutely spectacular! The captain did a great job making sure we spend plenty of time seeing all of the sites, of which there were many. The food on the cruise was only so so. There was plenty of it in the all you can eat dining rooms and the ramen night was our hands down favorite. The omelettes for breakfast are made to order and that was a nice touch. The restaurant we were assigned was called Bordeaux and although the service was great, the portions were too small and the food was only average at best. You could certainly order more but we usually didn’t. I would recommend getting the drink package or at least the coffee package, so you can get espresso drinks as the regular coffee on the ship was not great. This was our first time to Alaska and we will definitely go back as it was spectular. To sum it all up, the ship was fine. The food was so-so but the staff was great. Also, the state rooms were very comfortable, with large balconies. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows were too. We had a group of 9 and everyone commented on the beds and pillows.

Food and Dining

Drink package was nice to have. Good selection of spirits, Including a few nice single malts. Coffee wasn’t great unless you go to the international cafe and get an espresso drink. Food was so, so. Great service though.

Sabatini's Italian Trattoria

Great service and a gluttonous amount of decent food. Certainly better than the Bordeaux dining room, but also a $25 charge per head, plus we tipped pretty well as the service was really great. That was a very fun night!

Crooners Martini Bar

Great little spot to sit and talk and have a drink. Almost like a throwback little lounge which is a lot of fun and very comfortable. Great drinks too

Bordeaux Dining Room

Fantastic service with average food. Great deserts though.

Wheelhouse Bar

Fine. Trivia and a listening to the guitar player were really what we would do in this space.

Onboard Activities

Ping pong and sightseeing were the main activities for us. Other than that there was bingo, movies and some presentations. All decent.

Casino

Small, but a ton of fun. Lana, one of the craps dealers, is great!

Lotus Spa

My wife and daughter went but in fairness I never did, so this review is really secondhand information. I walked through the spa a few times and it looked beautiful.

Ship personnel was great, With the exception of making a reservation for dinner via telephone. This is the only way to make a dinner reservation and it is a terrible system. We called on day two from 8 AM and didn’t get through until about 3 PM at which time all dinner reservations were f with the exception of making a reservation for dinner via telephone. This is the only way to make a dinner reservation and it is a terrible system. We called on day two from 8 AM and didn’t get through until about 3 PM at which time all dinner reservations were full. Telling this to the people up at the front desk did no good. Their main job was to say, sorry, that’s just the way it’s done.

Ship Quality

The ship is 16 years old and smells like an older ship. The staterooms however are great.

For future reference on the day you board they normally have a table set up for people to go and make reservations and most flock and do just that and make their reservations
