Review summary

This was a cruise of a lifetime. It was a bucket list item we helped our 85 year old father cross off his list. I had such a great time, I'd jump back on the ship and do the same cruise over again. The Coral Princess is a beautiful ship and its just the right size.

Embarkation

Our embarkation was a breeze, we quickly got onto the ship and our room was ready.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was amazing! I'm deducting a star because I was very unhappy there wasn't any low sodium dishes in the buffet area. My dad is on a strict 1500 and under sodium intake for the day due to his congestive heart failure. In order for him to eat low sodium meals, that would have forced him to eat all of his meals in the dining room and pre-order the day before. The waiters said they were low sodium options, but nobody was able to provide nutritional facts about the dishes. We had to take a stab in the dark with all of my dads food options and he had to eat less food that usual to make sure he didn't consume too much sodium. With the average age group of the people on this cruise being over 65 years old, I can't imagine he was the only guest who needed to watch his sodium. They had gluten free dessert options in the buffet area, sure would have been nice to have at least 1 daily low sodium option. Before we got onto the ship we signed my dad up for the low sodium menu. When we got to the dining room on the 1st night we were told that everything was pre-salted and he couldn't order anything with low sodium.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The fitness center was very nice, we took a spinning and a stretching class.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ship performers were awesome! I was very impressed at how many hours they worked and in extreme weather.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the ships staff was extremely happy, friendly, helpful and very trustworthy. I lost my brand new iPhone in its Louis Vuitton case which had a $100 bill inside and it was found by a staff member in the dining room and returned.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything on the ship was exceptionally clean. Crew members were constantly cleaning, polishing and painting.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was clean, spacious, and very well appointed. I had to sleep on the pull out couch and didn't find it to be too bad. The minute I arrived on the ship I asked my attendant for another mattress topper which made the bed more comfortable.

Ship tip

My favorite item I brought was magnetic hooks, I wish I brought more! All of the walls are magnetic, so the hooks came in handy. We placed the hooks near the door and used them for our lanyards containing our cruise cards, hats and mini binoculars. Get a glow in the dark wall clock and hot glue some magnets to it. There's no clocks in the cabin. Make sure if you leave out of San Francisco in the afternoon, you go onto the back of the ship to take pics of the Golden Gate. If your on the bow on the ship you'll be taking pics directly into the sun. Don't forget to pack a huge water bottle that you can refill with ice and water when your at the buffet. I also dragged my water bottle with me on every excursion.

We drove over 2 hours to visit a volcano for 18 minutes. It was nice to see the countryside, but a long drive for a short stay.

We did a walking tour which was really nice. Our tour guide was very kind, but the vendors were very busy! Good luck if you want to buy any cigars, every country I purchased cigars from were fakes.

Oranjestad, Aruba

Disembarkation

The disembarkation went super fast, there was lots of people to help us with my 85 year old father, his walker, wheelchair and all of our luggage.
