Review summary

For the first time cruising, I learned a lot. I would sign up for more excursions if I were to go on another cruise. Having a balcony cabin is the way to go and I would choose the dining room again, rather than eat at the buffet.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation went very smoothly. I was surprised that it was so easy to find my room!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I dined in the main dining room most of the time. There were a couple of visits to the buffet, but I like to be served instead of serving myself. Our server was fantastic. His assistant knew what we were drinking by the third night. The food was good. Not excellent, but good. I never had to send anything back, but it wasn't 4 Star.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
I was disappointed in the choice of onboard activities. Most of them revolved around sales pitches. I felt like Princess was out to squeeze as much money out of me as they could. Therefore I did not do any of the sales promo activities that were listed in the daily newsletter. The only activity I really enjoyed was the Trivia contest. That's probably because my team won.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
I did attend some of the shows, but they were very subpar. I also thought there would be more of them to choose from. The acting seemed forced and the singing was mediocre.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
This was the true highlight of the cruise. The staff was phenomenal. Our steward was very attentive. So was the wait staff. There were a few grumpy people at the service desk. One was very abrasive and he said something to another worker about us, and they both laughed about it.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The common areas were delightful. I also felt that the ship was kept in good condition.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was nice. It was a little short on storage room for two people. I kept having to move my suitcase around.

Ship tip

Do not reserve an inside cabin. A friend stayed in one and was ready to tear her hair out by the end of the cruise.

Ports of call

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska Did not visit port

It was our embarkation point.

Skagway, Alaska

3 out of 5
Very commercialized. That really surprised me. I didn't expect to see so many touristy stores, vying for your dollars.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
I really liked Juneau because I went on an excellent excursion and got to see quite a bit of the area surrounding Juneau. I loved seeing the Mendenhall Glacier and Glacier Gardens.

Ketchikan, Alaska Did not visit port

I was held hostage in my cabin with the flu. I had purchased a soft drink package and they did not honor it when I was stuck in my room. They charged me $2.00 per soft drink plus a service fee of 15%. I was livid.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

3 out of 5
I thought there would be more to do in Vancouver. I even stayed an extra day. Was not impressed at all. I did have a nice dinner at the Four Season's restaurant.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was a piece of cake. I went from being on the ship to sitting in a Taxi in about 15 minutes. I was surprised that this went so smoothly.

I love the serenity of the ocean! It nice to relax with a drink & fresh fruit while my husbands in the shower. And the sunsets....simply beautiful.

very good points. but note that if you sail in the Caribbean a balcony is not as important as most of the time you just have blank ocean to look at...but at the end of the day I can't get past how much I love your avatar picture!
