We have sailed on the Summit 9 times since the re-start and consider it a home away from home. Good food, service, and entertainment makes us a returning customer.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Arrived a little later than expected, courtesy of mechanical issues with three American Airlines planes, and mother nature. We were directed to the suite check in area, where even the pier staff recognized us. Does this mean we cruise too much? Escorted immediately on board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Luminae food and service is exceptional. Many returning staff knew us, all were welcoming. No need to pay more for specialty restaurants.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Many laid-back activities. More relaxed and less active than it's sister company RCCL. Enough to keep adults busy if you wanted, not too many activities for children.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Ship singers and dancers were talented and put on three shows, along with a live orchestra (all of these shows we have seen before, but entertaining enough to see again). Guest entertainer Cheaza had a wonderful and energetic show. Did not get a chance to see the comedian.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
No children with us. Some youngsters on board, plus quite a few spring breakers.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Retreat staff will treat you like royalty.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Older ship, but has been revitalized. Some wear and tear, but workers everpresent keeping the ship looking fresh and new.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We enjoy the "Celebrity Suites" on this class of ship. Nice living space and bedroom. Bathroom, however, is a challenge. The jetted tub is nice, but very hard to get in/out of. Very well appointed and decorated room. Balcony is smallish for this category, and had 2 nicely cushioned chairs. We would have liked loungers, or chairs that reclined.
Ship tip
If you like to be spoiled, the Retreat is a nice space, uncrowded and well staffed.
Been here too many times. We walked to the "Fish Fry" and had a local bite to eat. Conch salad and seafood wrap was very good. Gave us a chance to mingle with the locals.
Very fast and efficient with facial recognition. Off the ship and to the airport in less than 30 minutes. Allowed us to catch an earlier (9am.) flight.
