Review summary

Dear Celebrity: Positives: Captain Dimitrius and crew flawlessly sailed us through calm shallow seas plus deep-sea elements; docking and maintenance so silent and seamless that no old ladies spilt their tea. We loved the multi-culturalism on board-- both staff and guests!!! Made, our room attendant; Reynaldo, our head waiter with humor and grace I'll never have; Cleyde - asst. waiter who read our minds and brought us what we wanted before we asked; Kanya - the best sommelier and also kind and humble; Buble - a server and bright morning personality who matched the sunrise through the glass panels on deck 10 at the buffet. The Cosmopolitan: This gem of a place, although large and feeding masses, felt so intimate and never failed to treat us like we were their most important diners. Rendezvous Lounge Intimate but filled with even quieter spaces, this venue had the best vibe and music. Oceanview Buffet: A supermarket of every meal from dawn to way after dusk You will not be able to eat all you want. Best place for brekkies. Our suite: We enjoyed the best mattress, linens, room service - and, Made, brought us ice daily before we asked!!! What a sweetie Made is! Negatives: Very few and not about service, only design. The balcony would have been gladly traded for a larger bathroom and shower was too tight/small. Smoking areas on decks 4 & 11 are the worst architectural/apportionment/design ideas on the ship, placing unhealthy (I'm included) smokers in the midst of hundreds of others including kids, people sunning and a running/walking track inches away. I suggest that you expand the deck 4 smoking area to both sides of the ship, with more comfortable seating. Casino: it is obvious why you want casinos, but I'll bet that 90% of your customers don't play But 100% have to negotiate the gauntlet you've created in the walkways through there. Better to add some video games and pinball machines and anything not related to gambling. People will spend money just like in the casino, only it will add a huge entertainment enjoyment element to the casino. Overall Rating: 10 I must give Celebrity a 100% rating because of your resolve to do the right thing every time. Your ship is exceptional in every way. My partner Tessa Izenour accidentally left her tablet in the desk drawer of our room 6031. She filed a lost item report today 02/28/23. We're hoping to get it back. She was on hold for 64 minutes with Celebrity Cruises Customer "Service" got her to a human. We really enjoyed the art in the public space-- photos, watercolors, textile art. Nicely curated! Someone has a good eye! Thank you for a wonderful short trip and ALL the hard work that your staff put into it! Respectfully and with Kind Regards, Michael T Heath & Tessa Izenour Room 6031

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate dinner at the Cosmopolitan Main Restaurant 4 out 5 evenings and we loved it. Tuscan grill "seafood" lunch was not worth it. Brekkies at the Oceanview Cafe was Awesome since we went early before it got crowded. We loved the British station for brekkies (even tho we're from Vermont) and the fresh fruit stations. It was a kind of confusing finding what you wanted for breakfast since everything was so spread out. I finally found the eggs bennie station on the last day and the spinach eggs benedict was wonderful. We really liked the diversity of breakfast options at the buffet compared to the smaller Cosmopolitan restaurant breakfast which we only ate once.

Onboard Activities

Quizes/Trivia in the sky lounge. One night at the theater to see your show "Life"-- really impressive. Mostly, enjoyed the music in the rendezvous lounge, A LOT! "Yes or No" last night in the Rendezvous Lounge was a hoot and we loved it!

Entertainment

What we say we loved!!! Our one night at the theater to see your show "Life"-- really, really impressive. Mostly, we enjoyed the music in the rendezvous lounge, A LOT! The acoustic soloist, the three person group AND the string duo-- all really great.

Children's Programs

No children, duh.

Service and Staff

We felt honored to be treated so well by your staff. Made, our room attendent, Reynaldo, Cleyde and Kanya treated us so attentively and kindly at dinner each evening in the Cosmopolitan. We feel such gratitude to them all. Please convey our thanks to them.

Ship Quality

Casino kinda not our thing. Would be so fun if you added some old school pinball machines and video/arcade machines!!! We think A LOT of people would love that! BUT, that's not where you make your big $$$ But, casino took up way too much room and we thought there's plenty of room to add a pinball/video game section!!! We would have loved that and so would most people in our age demographic-- I'm 55 and Michael, my partner is 64. Us oldsters woulda had a blast playing pinball and arcade games!!!

Cabin / Stateroom

For the extra money, I don't think the veranda was worth it. We hardly used the balcony. Room was small, hard to get around with two people. Mattress/bed and nice cotton linens were SOOOO Comfortable!!! We slept so well. Also loved the tv in our room and the viewing options! Cleanliness was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Made, our attendant deserves 10+ stars!!! What a sweetie!!!

Ship tip

Eat in the Cosmopolitan in the evenings. Enjoy the Rendouvous Lounge. Avoid the casino unless you add fun old-fashioned pinball, video, arcade games. Eat brekkies in the buffet/oceanview lounge-- way more options. Awesome late pizza also to be found in the Oceanview Lounge. Go to the Solarium at night before it closes at 9-- wonderful! Salt water pool and hot tubs!!! Peaceful and practically empty.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

We travelled all day to get to the ship. No time to explore Miami.

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

Cozumel seems like just a tourist trap for trashy Americans. We went to see the Mayan ruins in Tulum, which were amazing, but, we didn't get enough time to explore the ruins.

George Town, Grand Cayman

We took a small local tour we found on the pier. Very sweet and gave us a little taste of the island away from the shopping mall at port. Very mellow and a good respite after trekking miles around Tulum the day before. We would go back to the Caymans to explore more of the islands outside of the shopping mall/Georgetown. We would have loved to snorkel, but we both wear glasses, so, turned out you can't snorkel with glasses. We're both blind as bats:)

Pretty smooth, and it moved along better than other cruises I've taken. This was only my 4th and my partner Michael's 2nd cruise.

On the pinball machines.........have you considered that it would be difficult to play a machines if the ship rocks even a little bit. And I would bet they would "tilt" a lot more under those conditions.

Appreciate your very detailed feedback. Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Interesting suggestions. I hope you made them directly to the cruise line, because they do not read them here.
