Review summary

Like so many things now days you have to be prepared that things will change and they d. The weather also was not great. I will try to book another cruise with Celebrity. I think it is expensive but worth the price. Service was excellent. Food a step above most of the other cruise lines. The average age on this cruise was 50+. I'm not sure that is normal but I like it. I needed that break away from the clammer of young people. I feel I got my monies worth I like the overall feeling of fine sailing.

Embarkation

Mine went very good. My sister a first time cruiser had difficulties and I had to come down and assist her.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food and Service in the MDR were excellent. Room service was fast and the food above average there were a few small errors but overall no complaints. The burgers and hot dogs were tasty. The food in the buffet was as good as the MDR. There was little table assistance but so many choices and not a lot of repeats. The coffee just average. The only specialty restaurant we ate at was Le Pettit Chief the show was great. The food was not worth the extra price but the show made up for it. The service was below par. At one point the waiter got our food mixed up with the table next to us. Take kids, go once yourself, then I think I wouldn't do it again. The coffee shop service was fast and after two visits they knew me. The no sugar added cookies were yummy.

Onboard Activities

We both enjoyed the spa. We both spent hours in the covered adult pool area. I did not use the gym but did walk the outdoor track when the seas allowed. I highly recommend the ship interior tour. Wow it gave me so much insight about all the things going on in and around the ship and how everything works. We got to go on the bridge. fascinating.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage shows were excellent. The magic and comedy show were very entertaining. The bands and musicians were good but I like the music walk on the Rotterdam better.

Children's Programs

We were two sisters in our 70's having a reunion. We never saw a child anywhere on the ship except 2 babies briefly. except

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our servers in the MDR were charming, efficient, made good recommendations and made sure we did not leave the dinning room without a smile and a full tummy. Our room steward must have been hiding right outside our room 24/7 because our room was always neat and clean. He made sure my sister who had a few problems walking got assistance when needed. Overall we got good caring service over most of the ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very easy to get around. For an older mid size ship it was very well maintained. No notable art but the Pool sculptures were so interesting and fun. The ship was very clean and constantly being cleaned while we sailed. We were in several days of Very rough seas and overall the ship was fairly stable.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very comfortable bed. Lots of pillows. Our steward kept our cabin spotless. I like a double sink which we did not have but for the two of us it work well. Lots of storage for 9 days worth of clothes.

Ship tip

Be patient with the staff seating you in the MDR. I hate anytime dinning it makes no sense. We had a standing 8PM reservation and expectations of sitting i the same area each night it was a struggle and we saw non reservation people getting seated faster then us. I heard this complaint every night in the line.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

I went straight from the airport to the ship. I love the view of NYC and the sailaway views were so iconic it made the port fabulous.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

Easy access to our excursion meet up. Not having to walk through all the shopping before you get to the actual access to the city was nice, but shopping was easy to access if you wanted. We did a private excursion through a Cruises . com affiliate. 5 hour tour of the islands by mini bus. I give it a 5.

Charleston, South Carolina

Very ugly docking area. lol Our view from our balcony was a burned out warehouse with connecting warehouse roofs. It was a long walk to get to the excursion area. Our itinerary changed so much at the last minute that I did not get to book the excursions I wanted. We did enjoy our bus tour it was informative. I think the itinerary changes just messed with my planning so much I just decided to take the one excursion then stay on board. I might have gone out one more time but was not sure my older sister would be able to get off and back in time for our 2Pm departure. I think by this time next year things will be better in Charleston but the pandemic effects are still there.

Newport, Rhode Island Did not visit port

Very Very disappointed we did not get to this port. My sister was so excited to see New Port as we had lived there as young kids when my dad was stationed there. It was the big reason we booked this trip. Oh well. My nature decided no.

I had a transfer to the airport and although the bus driver was a little surly it all went well.
