Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main Dining room: We chose Select Time Dining and made our reservations prior to boarding. Little to no waiting to be seated. Had a table for two but only inches away from next table. Very fortunate to be seated with a great group of couples that chose the the same approximate time. Great wait staff. Good food. Buffet: Good variety to choose from at all dining times. Wait staff very helpful and always clearing and cleaning tables. Can be hard to find seating during breakfast and lunch time. Specialty Restaurants: They were always trying to sell the packages. We did not try any of them.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Daily activites very limited. Did participate in some trivia games. Enjoyed the Beyond the Podium speakers. A little too cool for poolside activites.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Went to almost all of the Stage performances. The American Ballet Theatre performance was outstanding as was violinist Katerina Rossa. Thoroughly enjoyed Savannah Smith. Uptown had the theatre rocking. The Celebrity Summit entertainment group was top notch.

Children's Programs

Not traveling with children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service on all levels was extrordinary. Everyone was always friendly and helpful. Two nor'easter storms impacted the ships itinerary. Captain Matt was outstanding keeping us informed about all changes. He announced when he would be in the theatre to explain his decsions on the changes and held question and answer sessions for the passengers. The excursion desk worked overtime to ensure tours would be honored and available allowing for changes made due to weather.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The revolution renovation of the ship was evident. A good redo. Ship was very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Pamela, our room steward, kept our cabin spotless. Four outlets and four USB ports in the room. It was tight between the foot of the bed and the wall. Very adequate storage space.

Ship tip

Do youe homework. Learn about the ship and ports of call before you sail so you enjoy your time on board.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey Did not visit port

Did not visit this port. However, the ship passed close to the Statue of Liberty. The captain backed out of the pier and them turned the ship 180 degress so both sides of the ship had a good view of Lady Liberty.

Boston, Massachusetts

4 out of 5
Have visited Boston in the past and have done most of the tourisity things. Chose the US Presidents Kennedy and Adams tour since we had not been there. Enjoyed both sites but could have used more time at each.

Portland, Maine

5 out of 5
Did the Highlights and Lighthouse tour. Good guide. Waterfront area very walkable. Tried Holy Donuts made from mashed potatoes. I had the maple bacon donut. Differnent but good. Many tourist shops and restaurants. I recommend Gilbert's Chowder House.

Bar Harbor, Maine Did not visit port

Port closed due to high seas from storm. Captain arranged a visit to Saguenay, Quebec instead. The friendly city accomodated our unexpected visit. The excursion desk was able to arrange tours for passangers. Well done to all.

Quebec City, Quebec

5 out of 5
Arrived a few hours early due to itnerary changes. Wonderful city. Took the Quebec City and Montmorency Falls Tour. Great tour guide. Received a good overview of the layout and history of the city. The stop at the falls not so great. Appreciated the overnight and second day to roam the city. Very European feel. The tree color was beautiful and in full autum glory.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Did not visit port

Skipped this port due to nor'easter.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

We arrived a day early due to itinerary change. A pier was not available which necessitated the use of tenders. Excursion desk arranged for all tours to be accomadated. Bell Museum and Scenic Baddeck was the tour we chose. Great guide who continually offered facts and information to make the bus ride interesting. We were very surprised to learn about the history and inventive contributions Alexander Graham Bell was involved in other than the telephone.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
Docked two days in Halifax instead of one. Rode out the nor'easter on the ship for the morning and part of the afternoon of the first day. Grateful to be in port rather than at sea. Walkable city. Waterfront boardwalk very nice. However many little shops already closed for the season. Rode the Hop on Hop off bus for an overview tour of the city. Did the complete loop. Guide offered much information and history of the city. We stopped at the Citadel at 12 noon for the firing of the cannon. Toured the Maritime Museum. We learned the part Halifax played regarding the Titanic. Went to Alexander Brewing co. Experinced poutine. And had to stop at Tim Horton's
