Review summary
Our family of 6 (3 staterooms) cruised to Bermuda for my daughter's wedding on the Summit. Perfect in almost everyway.
Cons:
Mix up in our dining room seating as we were suppose to be all seating together at a table for 6. When we went to dinner the first night we realized we were split up but got it resolved very easy and quick. Really thought I had this taken care of since I spoke with Celebrity a couple of times and they assured me that is how it was set up.
FILTHY smoking areas. There are only very few smoking areas on this ship and believe me neither one of them are kept clean. All ashtrays are overflowing, when you can even find one. Don't understand why it is so hard to empty and clean an ashtray where there are so few around. Deck 10 around the pool smoking area was unbeliveable at all times of the day. At the end of the ship only approx. 11 tables in the smoking area and even if you ventured out in the a.m. for a relaxing cup of coffee, a smoke and the sunrise the tables were full of dirty dishes and ashtrays. UNBELIEVEABLE. I do not have a problem with small smoking areas as I do not like to affend other travelers but how hard is it to keep clean.
Entertainment was just OK. Commedian/Juggler was wonderful but did not stay the entire time of any of the other shows.
Ken, the cruise director was out of place and vulgar at a lot of the family attactions. Thankfully we were not traveling with any of the young ones but there is a time and place for this type of humor.
Pros:
Great stateroom attendent. Only saw her a couple of times but she always kept things in top shape. Never had to ask for anything. We were staying in a Veranda room on 7th floor and my daughter has a larger Veranda on the rear of the ship. We both had Lalaine and she was amazing.
We choose early seating for diner in the dining room 4th floor since we all enjoy getting to know our waiter. We couldn't have had a better experience. Great service & food. Sorry I can not remember his name - Isaile - I think.
Only specialty restaurant that we tried was Bistro at Five, which was a great crepe eatery. We ate there twice, dinner and breakfast. Service and food were amazing. Highly recommend.
We chose this ship because of the itinerary, since it was docked in Bermuda almost 3 whole days. Never enough time in Bermuda. The most gorgeous, friendly island I have ever visited. We have been fortunate to have cruised around the Carribean but nothing compares to Bermuda.
This is the second cruise with Celebrity Summit and I would definately sail on it again but am still not changing my feelings of being a RC fan. Entertainment, cleanliness, activities are all much better on RC but the extra time in Bermuda is worth the exchange
