Life on the high seas by loupat

Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise was very enjoyable.  The service was great.   The shows were very enjoyable.  The food at the buffet was fantastic.   The main dining room food can use improvement.  Also there weren't enough interesting  activities during the day.  The jewelry sales team was very pushy.  All the other sales people were very helpful.

Excellent Ship and Itinerary, Nightly Activities Sparse by CurtisW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was beautiful, and the food was outstanding.  Food in the main dining room was very good.  We also ate at Qsine and Murano.  I can't say enough good enough good things about both restaurants, especially Qsine.  Many unexpected twists on recipes that were outstanding.  If prices weren't so high for the specialty restaurants, we would have ate at other places ($45 pp for Qsine and $50 pp for Murano).  In my opinion, the charges were far too high considering the amount we paid for the cruise itself.

The nightly activities were sparse at best.  We were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and my wife and I are each 46 and 47 years old.  There wasn't much to do after dinner outside of the main theatre.  Pools and hot tubs were closed by 11 PM each night.  The main nightclub (sky lounge) had an incredible view and décor, but hardly anyone was in there.

Despite this, we loved the cruise but will probably not go back on a Celebrity cruise until we're much older.

Wonderful Experience by meroun76

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. Lots of fun activities if you're so inclined, the room service & dining experiences & staff were top notch ( esp. Star, who runs the wine bar). We both had a great time in the ports & are glad we booked tours in each, since we had never been to any of these islands before. We will definitely book again!

Celebrity Silhouette Cruise, January 24 - 31, 2016 by jnedeau1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Six of us traveled together on this cruise and all were in agreement that it was one of the best cruise experiences we have had.  All of us are experienced cruise travelers and have used a number of different cruise lines.

We found the food, the staff and the entertainment to be top notch.

Great cruise by npstuber

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Great cruise from the start: quick, easy boarding; room ready, spacious, and clean. The Maitre'd was able to switch us to early dining and we ate great food and met great friends. Each evening there was good entertainment. We had good shore excursions at Cozumel, Grand Caymans, and Falmouth and a relaxing day on the beach at Labadee.

Great, as always by Cruiser436

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 4th. Celebrity cruise and our 15th. cruise overall. As always, Celebrity came thru and met our expectations. As a disabled person, I was treated with courtesy and respect which is somewhat lacking on other cruise lines. There's really nothing more to say other that keep up the good work Celebrity.

A GREAT TRIP.... THE BEST FOOD EXPERIENCE OF ANY OF OUR CRUISES.... by divenuta

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The crew, waiters, cabin steward from the Captain on down were excellent...The food was the best of all other cruises... However, The disembarkation was a travesty.....We were after a 2 hour wait in the lounge, let off the ship and spent almost 2 hours in the cold and windy climate on one of Florida's coldest days waiting to receive our luggage and proceed through Customs.

Celebrity Silhouette January 2016 was superb by PHWhite

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Everything about this cruise was very tasteful and top-notch.  The ship is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and accommodating, the food & beverages were all superb.  The house band ("Front Row") really rocks and they're playing somewhere on the boat several times a day.  The only downside for us was that we didn't anticipate being the youngest people on the boat.  We intentionally booked a cruise where we thought there would not be alot of young kids running around, but we didn't anticipate that at age 50 WE would be the young kids!  Despite all the canes, walkers, and oxygen tanks everywhere, we still had a great time, we just didn't meet many people in our own age bracket to socialize with.

Great Cruise by egreen1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We are experienced cruisers, being Captain's Club Elite Plus on Celebrity. This was our fourth S Class experience and the Silhouette was the best of them all so far.

Itierary: OK, we knew where we were going in advance, and there were no new ports to us. I did manage to pick up some more Brinely Gold Coffee Rum for my bar.

Ship: spotless and beautifully maintained. We were in a 1C cabin unlike our usual Concierge Class, but our Captain's Club perks covered all of our needs. We were comfortable.

Food: I ate mostly the beef dishes in the MDR and they were very good indeed. My wife who does not eat red meat was less pleased as her fish was consistently over-cooked and dry.We were both very much impressed with the food in the Ocean view Cafe and would have eaten there more often if we had not been with friends.

Enterainment: This was fine for a cruise ship, the big production shows were conspicuous by their absence, a money saver for X?

Disembarkation: I have to point out that the Port Everglades is totally incapable of handling the load imposed on it by the current crop of large cruise ships. We waited in a line almost three hours, two and on half of it on a very cold and windy pier. This either needs to be addressed, or the Cruise Lines should take their ships elsewhere. Jacksonville, Savannah, and Charleston are all available.

Conclusions: This was a quick get-away to be with friends who we had not seen in a while and it met our needs perfectly. I would recommend Celebrity Cruises to anyone.

Excellent overall BUT a few complaints by karenisaacs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have sailed on almost all of Celebrity's ships but this was my first time on the Silhouette. Overall it is beautiful, easy to navigate and luxurious.  The service is friendly and attentive. But... there are some areas where it is obvious that Celebrity is cutting back and economizing.

The positives: the Aquaclass rooms are lovely. Boarding was excellent and our bags arrived quite promptly. Blu -- the special dining room is also excellent. We enjoyed all of the specialty restaurants. I also liked the new Spa concessionaire --Canyon Ranch.  The treatments and staff were also excellent.

Excursions: we only did one excursion and I highly recommend it. It is a new excursion in Labardee-- New World Sailing Adventure. Only 20 of us on  a beautiful yacht, sailing along the coast and learning about this part of Haiti and Columbus. Rum punches, beer, water. Plus they dropped anchor and we could swim off the boat. Heavenly.

On board we took the cooking class in Murano -- just 6 of us with the chef. We assembled and did a little cooking of the appetizer and then he carefully explained the preparation of the main course (Steak Diane) and the pastry chef explained the dessert (Grand Marnier Souffle).  Then we all got to eat it for lunch -- complete with multiple glasses of champagne. Terrific.  But even here there seemed to be some economizing.  We were given white "Top Chef" aprons to use in the kitchen -- but then had to hand them back!

But now for some complaints -- all relatively minor but they add up.

1. It would be nice if Blu would offer a special or two or more choices.

2. It seems there have been little change in the menu in Blu or the specialty restaurants since I last sailed on Celebrity (Jan. 2014). This is particularly true of Q-sine and the Italian restaurant.  I still love the menu in Murano. The service in all of them are excellent.

3. In Blu -- a sometimes found the servers seemingly more interested in "entertaining" us -- joking around about each other -- than serving us.

4. Spa services -- Canyon ranch only offers its Port Day Specials until 1 p.m. no matter how late the ship is in port.

5. The casino has apparently raised its minimums on roulette and blackjack. No more $1 tables. I enjoy roulette but I only want to spend a limited money gambling -- so I felt deprived.

6. Service in the pool area -- especially during port days was hard to come by. One day I waited 30 minutes before someone took my drink order.

7. I was surprised that there were no talks on board about the region or on any other subject.

8. Probably my biggest complaint was the entertainment. Celebrity's entertainment has been declining for several years -- fewer small groups of performers in the public areas. This time it reached a new low.  Very few performers in public areas and some of them were not very good. I've also enjoyed the string trio or quartets that play light classics, etc. This type of music was nowhere to be found. It seemed they wanted you to shop.

9. Though I don't go the shows, I found they now usually featured one or two performers -- a singer, a comedian and not real shows.

10. Even Bacci has changed. No longer are there little sandwiches available at various times. I loved the way they used to serve ice tea -- a pot of tea and a container of ice. You could make multiple glasses to suit yourself. Now, it is served in an 8 oz. glass already prepared for you.  If I had to pay for this -- I didn't because I had the beverage package, I would have been annoyed.

11. In Aquaclass there is supposed to be a pillow menu -- I was never asked if I wanted different pillows.

It may sound like I had a lot of complaints, but most of them were small. But it did take away from some of the enjoyment and luxury I expect on Celebrity -- I am an Elite member of the Captain's Club. I heard some people say it was the doing of the new president who is from Royal Caribbean. I don't know, but I may consider another cruise line.

first cruise on the celebrity by dottiewright

Ship was great, activities were not. A variety show was not offered. The same things were for sale in gift shops over the entire trip.  Dining room staff was great but chairs would not slide under the table which made it hard to move them. The cabin was specious and well taken care of.

A Very Excellent Adventure by steelergirlinfl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a belated 10 year anniversary trip for us.  We chose the Silhouette, the third boat in the Solstice class that we have had the pleasure of sailing on.  For this trip, unlike the others where we sailed in Aqua Class, we were in Concierge. The trip was a relaxing yet port busy trip and we enjoyed the sea days book ending the 4 ports we enjoyed on the trip - Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Falmouth (Important), Jamaica and Labadee, Haiti.   The boat itself was beautiful and never really felt crowded although I was told she was almost full.  The staff, as with  most Celebrity sailings, were accommodating in every way.  We enjoyed all the perks in the 1-2-3 go package with our Concierge cabin.  The live music entertainment was very good.  We made new friends and made the most of each day.  Love

Beautiful, clean ship! by tmazzhman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Beautiful, clean ship!  Entertainment/shows hit or miss.....no Broadway dancing type shows, but good comedians!

Three very good dinners....balance were good. PUSHED (expensive} specialty restaurants and drink packages too much.....hawking specialty restaurants while you are approaching normal dinning venues.

My First Celebrity Cruise by Coleen1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a concierge catagory balcony cabin with classic beverage package, prepaid gratuities and obc. Pleasantly pleased with the cabin and that our stateroom attendant opened up our balconies for our 4 cabins in a row.

Three of the four cabin mates ordered room service one sea day. It was great to eat lunch on the balcony...loved it. The next sea day we all ordered room service breakfast. All room service orders arrived quickly and accurately.

At the first of the week we attended the shows. A comedian and a dance show the first 2 days. The comedian was ok, not great. He did an "adult" show at night. Not that great. We truly enjoyed the group eh440 from Toronto, Ontario Canada....they blew us away with the preformance. No instruments used. 2 guys in the band made all the instrument sounds using just mouth noises.. the singers were just as awesome....

Dining room waiters and staff were great. Food portions were enough. Not really thrilled with "the top chef" menu.

Embarkation and debarkation were simple and efficient. We look a Fort Lauderdale land and sea trip at the end of the cruise. Well organized and professional. Photographers were fun.

We stopped going to the shows because of the disappointment we experienced at the beginning. And nothing could beat the eh 440.

Overall Excellent by jamesnewell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We found the ship, staff, and shows to be excellent.  The food and service in Tuscan and Murano restaurants likewise outstanding.  However, the Dining Room felt crowded, the menu limited, and the service spotty,  The Oceanview Buffet gave many choices and the food overall was good.  The bars and entertainment were excellent--Cellarmasters, Ensemble, and Martini lounges, especially nice. The open and spacious Grand Foyer was a nice place to listen to music groups. The Spitfires were an especially good band.

Our cabin was a Cat 1A on the Panorama Deck. We loved the larger balcony  and found the bath to be larger than in similar Princess cabins. Storage in the balcony cabin, however, is definitely an issue, much less than Princess and some of it unhandy.

Our major issue was with disembarkation in Ft. Lauderdale.  It was a half-mile hike from the ship to the customs area.  Princess' disembarkation process is a breeze comparatively.

We like the layout of this Solstice class ship very much and found the activities to be more varied, the entertainment better, and the Go-Best package a treat.  We feel that overall Celebrity is a step-up from Princess, except in the Dining Room menus and service and the embarkation/disembarkation.

A Great, Relaxing Adult Cruise by rbarnes06477

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship and it's crew were absolutely fantastic...hospitable, clean and efficient.

Strongly suggest purchasing the additional 4 restaurant package as the specialty restaurants are absolutely wonderful. Best of any cruise we've ever enjoyed.

Overall, we had a very relaxing time aboard this ship, however if you are going to bring children this is clearly not the cruise for them. (We did not)  We were a little bored by about day five but managed just fine.

Overall, loved it. The crew, from officers to stewards make you feel welcome every minute that you are onboard and clearly reflect a positive attitude toward their careers in hospitality.
