Review summary

Cruise.com is misleading about their offers. I purchased my cruise where it was offered up to $1,500 to spend on board. Then, they called me saying that it's only $150 and by the way, I DID NOT GET EVEN THIS! The ship is beautiful but boring. There are no fun activities during your time on the ship. Expensive drinks. Only 3 places you can eat, the rest you have to pay for it. I paid so much for the cruise plus paid on the cruise. They charged $17.50 per person daily, plus daily taxes for anything you spend. They sent me the statement of the total amount due upon arrival and gave me $99 of credit that they took back after charging me $1100 for their daily fees and few cocktails during the cruise. Horrible experience with the cruise company. Even the food was amazing and the ship was clean, this is a very expensive ship that does not worth that much due to boring athmosphere and zero fun while cruising at the sea. Would not recommend it for mid income families with the kids. Would not advise to purchase cruise from Cruise. com either.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was amazing and a lots of it. The thing is, you can eat only in buffet and dinner in main restaurant, and burger grill, but all of the rest restaurants you will need to pay for eating there. The drink package is unbelievably expensive $90/per day, pper person. We did not get it of course, but the Cruise.com will mislead you with their info and offers, so you will know about things only after you purchase from them. To buy drinks (we had to buy even water/juice in main dinner restaurant, and the alcohol on the cruise is crazy expensive. The cheapest bud light is $7, the cheapest cocktail is $13.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Did not enjoy anything as there are no activities on this cruise. The cruise is for 68+ and th cruise is full of an old disable people, so there are no activities. I would not recommend this cruise company for a family with kids. It's boring, kids can spend only limited time and only up to 2 hours in kids play where are no kids at all and they just sit in one room doing some figures with play dow. My daughter was crazy bored and did not have any mood to go there as she was there by herself twice. Not interesting for kids to be on this cruise as this is completely opposite from what we expected. No kids activities. No any activities for adults. Just boring same band playing same music and only one same singing lady moving around the ship to sing in different spots.

Entertainment

No entertainments. Just boring for an old people to just waste their time on the cruise.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
No kids entertainments. This cruise is not for the family with kids for sure.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The customer service from the Guest relationship room is horrible. The lady talked to me like I'm asking something crazy. I been asking her about departure as no one has told us about it, so if I did not ask we would never known that we need to get the tags from them and to put our bags outside the stateroom the night before we arrive back to Miami pport. So there was an unpleasant experience with communicating the the receiptionist. In main restaurant the server Lidia was the best and Hanum, the other lady. These two have been the sweetest ladies on the ship. At the kids club, theere was also a sweet lady Marina but it's not her fault that they do not have any activities for the kids as this ship is not for the kids at all.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was clean and comfy. Very beautifully and comfy designed ship. But everything is for the old people that will just sit and listen the same songs from the same singing lady. Boring.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The stateroom is cleaned twice a day.

Ship tip

If you want to just sit and watch the sea this is the best ship for doing nothing. Boring. No fun activities to do. Enjoyed the ports we visited but not the time we spent on the ship while cruising at the sea...ut

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Everything is crazy cheap! Historical places are amazing. Bought so much from Puerto Rico!

Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

Have cash with you as nothing you can buy with your debit/credit card. Everything is expensive, the food, gifts, drinks. Went to the Rainbow beach with beautiful clear water.

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
Neon blue water. Went to the beach with the bar in the ocean. Affordable drinks. Bought a lots of rum to bring home.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
This island shocked me with the powdery sand that contains million years of lava. The water is glassy clear. The beach store was too expensive. Be sure you have cash on you as there rare spots you can pay with your debit/credit card. The one unussual island that touched my heart with its beauty. Amazed by a those sweet people that live so poor in such a paradise. The British royalty has forgotten about this island because the royalty cares only about own vacation but not the island itself.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Absolutely gorgeous water all over the island. No matter which beach you will go you will swim in clear beautiful amazing water.

Disembarkation

For those who think I did not do my research - people, do you really think I would just purchase a trip without any of research??? This is the thing: I shared with my experience about just THIS cruise, and about THIS website, that what they promised - I DID NOT RECEIVE. This cruise is for OLD people but it won't tell you anywhere about the age of the passengers. I've been on cruises before. I shared with my experience, so someone else will know not to trust the cruise.com with their promises and that this cruise ship is for people 60+ age categorie, and boring. The cruise ship is beautiful itself but you have to be a retired millionier to really enjoy it. The drinking package for one is more expensive than the whole cruise for one person! I was always purchasing trips from Expedia or directly from the cruise company, but this website is misleading when they telling you it's $2,000 credit on cruise, then calling you and telling you that you got $150 of credit to spend on cruise. The agent said I will receive a card after the cruise. I have never received it. I spoke with the agent. I did not just poke in to a cruise and purchased it. Please, stop wasting your time thinking like this. I don't need your advises. I just shared with my experience so no one else will get fooled by the cruise.com and will be prepared to have $5k more in the pocket to spend on cruise on the top of paying $4k for cruise itself. Save your money for another cruise ship and purchase cruises durectly from the cruise company and not a 3rd party misleading agents like cruise.com has. Period

OK, so you didn't do your research AT ALL? Why would anyone pay for any vacation and NOT know what your getting for the price? I peak at the site you booked from. It clearly tells you what you get for each room type you choose. Not a cruise for children either. You were completely blind booking your cruise. Personally I would say you were at fault. 🙄 Research, resesrch!

Thank you for your review. Hopefully, next time you will do your research before booking. Celebrity, thankfully, does not cater to children. Gratuities are never included on any cruise, but your travel agent (TA) should have told you that. Pick a better TA next time.

Try CruiseS.com next time. They have never done me wrong and communicate everything. They even insist/suggest you call them for certain things, which makes clarification of the details for cruise offers easy. Just saying... I accidentally typed that URL you went to... And was not impressed.

Next time book Disney about 12000 for the week

Appreciate your detailed review. I agree with the others that you were misled by the booking company. Many of your complaints are things that are industry wide, like daily gratuities, debarkation procedures (similar on most cruise lines), drink availability, etc. Celebrity is not known for children programs, but a more adult atmosphere. If you decide to cruise again try Royal Caribbean or Carnival. Both are less expensive and more family oriented. Sorry you were disappointed.

Sorry to hear your cruise was too boring, I hear that Disney is nice for young families.

So sorry to hear your cruise was too boring, it sounds like you enjoyed the ports, hope you d9nt give up on cruising. I hear Disney is nice for families

I believe the travel agency did you a disservice in selling you a more expensive cruise catering to seniors , just to get a higher commission. Other cruise lines are more family friendly.

cruznuts    1 year ago

A shame a young family took a cruise for seniors for the most part. Hopefully a little research and the use of a professional travel agent will result in a better experience next time.

I am guessing you are a first time cruiser. Celebrity, HAL and some others cater to an older clientele. Research is important when selecting a cruise, cabin, ship and cruiseline. Carnival and Royal Caribbean cater to a families with kids. Newer ships on these cruiselines have lots to for families with children. JFI. And not all online travel agencies are the same. Some have good reviews and some have not so good reviews. When spending a good amount of money on a cruise, you want to do some research first and then you are more likely to have a great cruise experience.

Carnival ships are the fun ships.....for every age

kdlady    1 year ago

Obviously you didn't do enough research for your first cruise. Gratuities are charged on every line, so if you have a problem with that, cruising is not for you. Also, the TA websites ALWAYS advertise the OBC for the highest room category. Unless you are booking top tier suites, you are never going to get the maximum OBC.

Sorry you did not enjoy your cruise. Hopefully your next cruise will be a different experience.
