Review summary

Overall I had a great time. The staff, I cannot say enough about every single one of them - top to bottom and their involvement was amazing. However, if I choose Celebrity again (I can only choose cruises based on my timing - not on the ship itself) and I can, I may want a different ship with more accessible activities throughout the decks. I'm not into the super high end shops, but I also understand I chose this ship... I definitely would like a more diverse set of activities - but thought Nathan, Jaz and Ana Dolce did an incredible job and I loved doing what I did with them. After this experience, I would like to cruise with Celebrity again!

Super easy with the app

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Main dining was really good. Buffet was also pretty good. Breakfast was great. We went to 1 specialty restaurant and it was good, friends went to another and it was terrible- glad we mostly stuck to the main and Buffet where it was dependable.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The activities I participated in, I had a great time and would rate some of the 10 stars... others were ok and get the 3... but what has me giving a 3 star overall is that so many were just repeated. Not a lot of diversity. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE HOSTS!!!! I think they are what made even the repeats enjoyable. THEY WERE FANTASTIC!!! However, I LOVED the app... but, it needs better details - not just "ballroom dancing" - say what kind of dancing for each... Activities that REQUIRE you start at the beginning and work on it all week long, they need to be linked. I didn't know a couple Activities had to be started days in advance because the day/time I could didn't reference it... so I had no idea. The app was wonderful to use, I could plan out each of my days... but it was only based on what it stated... and some may have been better if better written... or not attended if more info provided. A couple Activities didn't have the host there to do it... or was moved without knowing. So perhaps the app could be better interactive with updates if needed.

Entertainment

Shows were ok, the last one was great - loved the skills it took for Euphoria! The comedian was the best!! Dave made all the shows, programs and everything even better with his before and after. I wasn't a big fan of the small shows... a couple of those who sang were really good, a couple others, not so much. Although I understand how much hard work it went I to all that they did, it seemed like a great show by a local group or a college group. But I still enjoyed it and thought many of them have some great skills! It's not at all easy what they do! DJs I didn't think were that good - 2 stars. I'm pretty sure it was 1 Playlist played every single night and put on shuffle. Sax guy was good, just apparently not my thing. Vox was great, even though not my thing.

Service and Staff

Oh my gosh - this was phenomenal! I couldn't get over how amazing everyone was. I don't think there was a single person on the ship that wasn't excellent! Shabaum (spelling???) Was THE BEST EVER for our stateroom! We actually miss his smile and hellos. Another guy that wasn't ours I'd see in the hallway and was just as nice and welcoming. I would five this 10 stars! Well, 1 guy in Cuvee... he was nice and all, but not the best waiter - slow, maybe forgetful... but everyone else was top notch!

Ship Quality

Design was fine - I thought there would be a lot more to do on the ship.. but maybe that's because it was my 1st time on a Celebrity. Design was functional, I was just hoping for more to do that wasn't just a planned activity. Clean though- omg! I thanked the bathroom attendants and buffet people all the time. They were right on, cleaned everything all the time. That was phenomenal and gets 10 stars!

Cabin / Stateroom

All was great. The fact you could separate the beds for us without having to move cabins was perfect. Although we weren't a couple, and bith overpacked, it didn't seem too crowded or not enough space. Again, our stateroom attendant, Shabaum was PHENOMENAL!!! However, my friend and I bith think he needs a break. He never once complained or said anything at all negative... it was in us asking how he managed to keep our room do perfect... asked him if he slept at all - jokingly, he would only laugh and say yes, he slept! But man, no way he got much time off with the way he kept our room so perfect!

Ship tip

It is a much, much older crowd and to not expect a lot of quicker paced/diverse activities. But that the staff are the best ever and the Cruise Director, Activities Director and 2 Activities Hosts are the best that will be found!!! The 4 of them truly made this experience for me!

Ports of call

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

It was great, maybe a little too touristy for me. I liked having all the shops there... but just seemed overly touristy.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Lots to see and do and seemed real. Liked the vendors with tents. It was my favorite port because it was a cross for tourists, locals and authentic.

Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

Nothing to do there. Thank goodness the tents were up. I know the slight rain and wind didn't help. Store people seemed more irritated we were there than happy. Not very much to do u less we taxied somewhere. Stilts guys were rude.

St. John's, Antigua

Authentic. Plenty of stores to walk around to. I did an excursion - the boat ride was fun! Wind added some extra to it! Ha! The guys on the boat were great, but the actual snorkeling was terrible. I'd rate it a 1 star. We had to wear large bulky waist floats. Had to stay in a group - TERRIBLE/SUCKS with 40+ people. So closely packed, i spent half the time defending myself from kicks in the face. The reef was basically dead, so not much to see. And it seemed like a sprint to get out to a spot and get back. I have snorkled and dove a lot... this was awful. I went on other snorkels this cruise, so I'm not even judging/comparing on just past places.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Good stores around. Authentic. Probably could have seen more if I took the ferry to town, but after my excursion, it was good enough and fun. The excursion itself was fantastic. The best of all 3 (supposed to be 4, St Croix canceled) - and all 3/4 were the same... catamaran with snorkel and food. Guys on boat were the best. Boat ride great. Snorkeling was good... again, dead reefs, so there, not a whole lot... but at least it was a free snorkel/swim in an area - what I was expecting.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Authentic. Great shops close by after my excursion. Excursion was good. Didn't like the 1 stop where everyone was at.. and murky from all the people and wearing vests... couldn't see much at all and definitely not enough time to actually snorkel around. 45 min seemed like 30 - and nit just to me. I think we were cut short. But the boat guys were great!! Beach time wasn't very long at all. Nice, but it was as if all was rushed just to say we went, we did, we were there, now go. Perhaps it needs to either be longer... or do one or the other.

Disembarkation

Well, Port of Miami vs Celebrity. Celebrity seemed to have it well organized to make it all a breeze. So to Celebrity, I give 5 stars. But POM had it so backed up, we were well over 1.5 hours before disembarking. Getting our luggage was painful as it was not very organized - yes there were signs, but they weren't always correct and some numbers missing. So that took a while. Process through was easy enough. Knowing where to wait and go for an Uber/Lyft was NOT easy and almost lost our ride bc its mixed in with so many other transportations....
