Review summary

I was on the cruise with 3 family members - sibling and cousins.  We had no idea what to expect, but we loved the amount of ground we were able to cover during the day - I can't imagine how we would have seen so much in such a short time with so little stress.  We loved watching the sea and sky in the evening, and generally avoided the noisy parts of the ship (casino, shops.)  The staff was unfailingly nice and attentive - did not meet a single person who wasn't cheerful and helpful, even when they must have been tired.  The food was excellent, and I liked the special foods from each country that we visited.

We did not enjoy the "art" auction - which was just amazing to me, who works in the art and museum world - it seemed like it was a con game to fool people into buying ordinary commercial art for very high prices - but if people really loved what they were buying I certainly couldn't stop them, just hope they don't try to re-sell it.  The quality could certainly be improved - it's like what you can buy on the street in any major city.

It was easy for us to figure what parts of the ship we loved to hang out in, so we just stayed away from the other parts.  We loved the Sky Lounge and the Hideaway.  I also loved the outside swimming pool and my siblings liked the gym.  The sauna was terrific.  There were problems with the lockers in the women's spa - even the staff was complaining since no one could figure out how to lock and unlock them and they kept having to come and open them.  Hopefully those will be replaced soon.

We had some suggestions for excursions that were not included:  for example, in Copenhagen we went to "Louisiana" - the fantastic garden and museum about a half-hour trip outside the city.  I can imagine why that wasn't given as an option - it is one of the most beautiful places we saw.

We would certainly like to have a holiday like this again!

Cabin was fine for my cousin and me - we didn't spend much time there. Jose, the attendant, was a lovely person.

Ship tip

Get the internet package - my sister didn't and lived to regret it!! the WIFI was a little fussy but worked reasonably well.
