Disappointed with Celebrity

Sail Date: October 17, 2015

Reviewed: 1 year ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The sole purpose for choosing this particular cruise was the ports of call in Israel.  It was to be a pilgrimage as well as a vacation.  Celebrity knew at least 10 days prior to sailing that they were cancelling the stops in Israel but waited until the night before sailing to advise its passengers of the change, thereby eliminating all other options to postpone or cancel.  It was a wise short-term business decision but in the long-run it has cost Celebrity new and return business.  Many passengers, myself included, completely understood the need to cancel the stops.  What we don't appreciate is being disrespected by Celebrity in waiting until it was too late to reschedule or make other arrangements.  We're going back to Princess.

Cabin / Stateroom
Nice room, pretty good view and very clean.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Ship Quality
The attendants were excellent in our rooms, even the others on the same deck but not assigned to us were most attentive and friendly.
Destinations and Excursions
A few of the tour leaders were absolutely priceless and the others were okay.
Onboard Activities
The cruise ship hired a Catholic priest who celebrated Mass every day. Very nice.
Entertainment
Service and Staff
Julian in the dining room was excellent, as were all of the people in the dining room.
Food and Dining
The dining room food and staff were excellent. The buffet was disappointing.
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
Naples, Italy
Ashdod, Israel
Haifa, Israel
No Haifa meant no Cana, no Nazareth, no pilgrimage to Jesus' hometown.
Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey
Excellent tour guide made this the highpoint of the trip.
Mykonos, Greece
Piraeus (Athens), Greece
Valletta, Malta
This and Ephesus became the highpoints of the trip. I would return to Malta at the next opportunity. What a beautiful experience.

Tip

The Guest Services crew and Excursion crew were most helpful and responsive. The Dining room crew were excellent.
