Review summary

Good food and drink make up for a lot of other areas where Reflection could be better. Overall, I enjoyed my cruise, but because of the items I mentioned, I would not sail Reflection again. I might not even sail Celebrity because of the blaring music which could be on other ships. Our experience in no way reflects on our cruise planner, Leslie. She did an excellent job.

Embarkation

We were supposed to check bag outside of check in area, but were not told, and directions for check in procedure poor. We ended up having to go through security twice.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food and drink in buffet and restaurant excellent. Murano specialty not worth the $60 upcharge.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Fitness elliptical difficult to operate. Help not readily available. Trivia games way too obscure and not fun. Music blaring from atrium space at all hours was horrible...too loud and music selections very poor.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Entertainment for the most part was excellent. However the last show "Euphoria" could have been fantastic if not for the harsh, screaming vocals that accompanied each act. The performance was divine, ethereal...the music should have reflected that. The music was a huge distraction.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Eri our steward was excellent. Movin in restaurant very attentive.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Common areas fairly standard but the dining chairs in restaurant were very uncomfortable. The back slanted too far back. I always asked for a cushion.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Cleanliness excellent, but I cannot recommend the cabin based on the electrical outlet situation. It had two American outlets...both on dresser area...none at night table(extremely small). Our steward had to bring in unsightly orange extension to accommodate our two cpaps. Because the cpaps had to use one of the outlets all night, my husband and I had to jostle our various devices during the day to keep them charged. Really disgraceful.

Ship tip

Do not plan to fly out of Lauderdale on day of return. Adding to our disappointment with the cruise, was the even more distressing situation at FLL. We learned that six huge cruises had come in that Sunday. FLL was not prepared to handle the crowds. After a 60 minute wait outside in the Delta check in line, we encountered a room of people sitting or lying on the floor waiting for their flight gate to be called for check in. We will definitely not plan to fly on same day of arrival again.

Did not do excursions.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Didn't do excursions but walked by myself into town. Very enjoyable.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Did not do excursions but took open air taxi into town. Walked the several blocks of shops. Tried to find return taxi, but unable. Had to walk the two miles back to ship

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We took excursion and our guide Nicholas was excellent with very good English. However, the island is unremarkable and not worth visiting again.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

I took excursion of island and Cane Garden Beach. I. Hodge, our guide was not engaged at all and his English very difficult to understand. Cane Garden Beach was a small arc of beach stuffed with umbrellas and beach chairs. We stayed 45 minutes there. The water looked inviting, but didn't have time to go in. I walked on the beach, what there was of it. Cannot recommend tour or beach.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

I didn't do an excursion. I loved Puerta Plata. I walked through the port touristy area to the outside and to the main plaza. I found an excellent shop where I bought Larimar jewelry. I went inside the beautiful church on the plaza. A lovely day.

About as comfortable as can be expected.

I find your low ratings and generally favorable comments to be contradictory 🤔

Hope your next cruise is better

Some of your star ratings seem a bit harsh compared to the comments? Hope you enjoy future cruises better

Thank you for sharing your cruise experience with us. Your note on power outlets in the room and those bringing medical devices is important in planning. Limited outlets are the rule in cruising. We carry 'triple tap' or multi tap adapters as most cruise lines don't allow personal extension cords/power strips.

I know it’s all subjective, but that’s the first time I’ve seen St. Maarten called unremarkable. There’s a beautiful beach literally in a modern and safe town with restaurants and bars and easy transportation at the end of the pier.
