1st time on Celebrity, food not so good

Sail Date: December 06, 2014

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

This was our 6th cruise and the 1st time with Celebrity.  We also had a suite and it is definitely worth the extra money for the extra space you get.  We don't really care about having a butler and 2 people to clean our room because we sort of felt like we were being interrupted or we would have to wait to get in our room because they would still be cleaning.  My only other complaint was our dining experience.  We went with Select Dining so we could choose when we went to dinner.  It isn't the same as when you go at the same time, same table and same waiter.  That has always been a fun part of the cruise, getting to know your waiter and bartender for the week.  You do have to pay all gratuities up front when you choose select dining, maybe that's why we had such horrible service.  You really feel like they stick you in a corner and forget about you.  Tried Qsine, takes about 20 min between dishes and food is different...very rich.  They offer 20 different choices of small portions so you can try several but our group was only able to eat 4-6 different things and we were stuffed and it took 2 1/2 hrs.!  Nice ship, nice room, most staff friendly just didn't really care for the food, desserts awful!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
select dining leaves you feeling like your forgotten about. buffet food was same everyday, not good and they leave big piles of scraps exposed for everyone in the dining room to see.
Service and Staff
there was no one taking drink orders around the pool, no one picking up empty cups and beer bottles, bad service at dinner, no one took a drink order the 4-5 times we were in the casino
Onboard Activities yoga, pilates and art classes is what we were interested in but they are outrageously priced! 25 - 35 a class...that's highway robbery!
Destinations and Excursions
we were really looking forward to the "baths" in St. Thomas but it was cancelled for some reason, so this wasn't a very positive experience either
Cabin / Stateroom
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
baths got cancelled
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
took a taxi ride around the island, fun and interesting
