Both my wife and I were very happy with the Celebrity experience. I read many reviews on trip advisor and they were mixed so we were not sure what we were going to get. So when we received excellent service and high quality food, we were pleasantly surprised. I am glad we did the aqua class. I am not sure if I would go from the suite since they cost much more than the balcony. Either way, I don't do a lot of cruises but I would go back to Celebrity based on the experience we had.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Quite smooth but the guy checking us in knew very little.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was very good. We mostly ate at Blu but did try the specialty restaurants. The food quality was beyond my expectations and this is what will bring us back to another Celebrity cruise. On top of this, my wife has a gluten allergy and everyone was very accommodating and understood what this meant. The buffet had many options for gluten allergy folks.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We enjoyed the New Years Eve party. It was a lot of fun and was managed very well. The Persian garden was excellent especially when combined with the Thessalotherapy (???) pool.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We only took advantage of one of the shows and the stand up comic was quite good when he interacted with the crowd but was weak on his monologue.
Children's Programs
No kids with us
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
I can't really come up with an experience that stood out with regards to bad service. Mostly the service we received in the restaurants and the room stewards was excellent. This coupled with the food quality would bring us back to another Celebrity cruise.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Overall, the ship was kept clean by the crew but there were a few times we could smell mildew from a sour mop in a few of the places on the ship but this was not common. The Martini bar and the coffee shop were well placed next to the stairs and elevators
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
I am glad we went for the Aqua class cabin. It was the right size for two people.
Ship tip
Spend the extra money between Concierge class and Aqua class. The access to Blu and the Persian garden was worth it. Also, get the premium drink package and the tips package. Try the specialty restaurants.
Key West looked like a giant tourist trap and was quite expensive. We did a seafood walking tour organized through United Airlines. The food was quite good. I would say Key West was nice overall but was overly crowded. I would need to get away from the traps to give a better thought to it. This rating was based mostly on the quality of the walking tour.
We did not really tour Cozumel. We did an excursion through United Airlines for some cave expeditions and swimming. It looked like a giant tourist trap as well.
It was easy except the baggage claim was not well marked. The rest of the disembarkation, which was US customs, was garbage which is outside of Celebrity's control. Staggering the disembarkation was a good idea.
It’s helpful if you add your other cruises so readers can tell what you’re comparing to. While we like Carnival a lot and find good value, as well as better comedians and martini bar, find that Celebrity food and service is superior!
