Review summary

The ship is in desperate needs of refurbishment and is scheduled for 2020, but not sure she can hang on that long. There are some public areas that are very nice and modering feeling (Martini Bar, Rendevous Lounge) and then there are other public areas that are worn and beaten up like the Oceanview Grill (Lido). The food and service are hit and miss. The quality of the food is very good...lots of variety across all the restaurants and buffets. There was a carving station or two every day in the Oceanview Cafe (buffet) for lunch and 3-4 carving stations at dinner time. In the restaurants, the service was hit and miss, but the quality of the food was very good albeit VERY small portions. Everyone in our group ended up ordering 3 or 4 things off the menu most of the time or having to reorder as some dishes were just a whisper of food rather than an actual portion. We upgraded to Sky Suite but didn't get all the amenities that were included with this class. We will be writing to Celebrity directly to let them know. The drinks package is definitely worth it, but the staff throughout the ship is constantly trying to get you to upgrade the package or buy specialty dining package or something...felt a little like a flea market at times with the crew trying to sell you stuff. The air conditioning is very inconsistent throughout the ship and cabins. Our cabin was ridiculously warm most of the time even after calling several times. I think there are major issues with the AC on this ship. Overall this is a nice weekend away but the ship doesn't live up to the same standards as other Celebrity ships. Compared to other cruise lines 4-5 night cruise product, this one is still the best one out there (IMHO) and the ship will be fantastic after the huge renovation happening in 2020.

Michael's Club

Ann the bartender is fantastic and Sheila the Suite Guest Concierge is warm and friendly.

Oceanview Cafe and Bar

The food variety and selection was very good but the seating area is in desperate need to refurbishment. Also the AC is very inconsistent and we found it much cooler towards the aft

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Typical cruise activities...nothing new or exciting

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The comedian on board was horrible but we heard the production shows were good from our friends. We aren't much into shows, but good reviews from everyone we talked to.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
This area was very hit or miss. Some lounges/bars had excellent service and others couldn't care less and very slow. Same for the service in the restaurants and specality restaurants...some shining stars and others were just ho-hum.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
In desperate need of refurbishment!! Some of the ship was very nice and other places like the cabins were very outdated and stale.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Sky Suite 9117 is a handicap accessible cabin and if you are not handicapped, it's a death trap! The shower has no lip on it to hold in the water, so the entire bathroom floods making it VERY slippery. There is a carpeted ramp up to the bathroom that we triped over several times as it blends in and hard to see. The ramp up to the balcony drops off on the side by a about 2" at the top and VERY easy to roll your ankle or fall off the side if you aren't super careful on it. The vanity in the cabin has horrible lighting making it virtually impossible to do hair/makeup easily and overall the cabin needs to be updated...very dated looking.

Ship tip

Do NOT select/accept a handicap accessible stateroom unless you really are handicap otherwise you may end up handicap by the end of the cruise!
