Review summary

We got off the ship in San Diego and headed for the airport, so cannot give a rating for that port. The HIGHLIGHT of this trip was the Canadian Rockies pre-cruise land tour, but we very much enjoy every cruise we've taken! This one was no exception.

Embarkation

As usual, filling out the Express Pass makes the process smooth and effortless. Having to go through US Customs made it take a lot longer on the front end, but then didn't have to do that at the end of the cruise, so that was a plus.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Blu is always good. Anush in the Casino Bar alway knew what my husband wanted before he even asked for it! Le Petite Chef at Qsine was lots of fun and should not be missed (the food was excellent as well)!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We are never at a loss for something to do.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We had seen one production show on several other ships, so we skipped it (Broken Strings). We had seen the magician before on other ships, so it was a bit disappointing. The remaining shows were good to very good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Shawna, Cruise Director, was great and very approachable. Fernando (sommelier in Blu), Ivory (hostess in Blu), Crispin (waiter in Blu) and Jonathan (assistant waiter in Blu) were excellent! Again, Anush at the Casino Bar was excellent! Our room steward, Jose, was good, as well.

Ship Quality

I like the cabin storage on the Millennium Class ships, but the bathroom is tiny. The Infinity is very much in need of a facelift. I think it is in line for the facelift, but not for a year!!!

Cabin / Stateroom

Loved the location, up on Deck 11!!! Love the cabin storage (more than enough) and placement of the closet across from the bathroom. Jose kept the cabin very clean and responded to every request we had. Someone had left extra hangers in the closet (thank you). We also like the cabins (as this one is) with the bed closer to the bathroom versus closer to the balcony/verandah. The only big drawback is the tiny bathroom, but we've dealt with that before on other Millennium Class ships.

Ship tip

We like Blu and the location of our cabin on Deck 11, so recommend Aqua Class on the Infinity. The new La Petite Chef at Qsine is lots of fun, so don't miss that!

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
We LOVE Vancouver, but due to the land tour of the Canadian Rockies and the VIA Rail train time change, we did not get any sightseeing time in Vancouver on this trip. We were sad that we had to cancel our original plans. I recommend spending at least a few days in Vancouver, if you have the time. Go to Vancouver Island (Victoria), Grouse Mountain, the Public market at Granville Island, Whistler, Stanley Park (larger than Central Park), the Aquarium, to name a few.

Seattle, Washington

There is never enough time to do all you'd like to see. The Space Needle and all the corporate headquarters downtown are interesting. Pike Place Market is a must. The Locks cruise was very interesting!

Astoria, Oregon

We went 2 hours to Mount St. Helens which was well worth our time. We only saw the town of Astoria on our way back to the ship, so cannot comment on the town and surrounds.

San Francisco, California

Foggy, but it finally almost cleared up around 1 PM. The Hop on Hop Off bus tour we booked took us around town and then we transferred to another bus which took us across the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito and back. Then the next transfer bus back into San Francisco had mechanical issues, so we had to stand around for 45 minutes (with about 100 other people) waiting for a replacement bus, which caused us to be late and have to decide between eating lunch or taking the harbor cruise that we had paid for. Too much to do and see in San Francisco for just the few hours that we were there. Be sure to see Pier 39 and the Sea Lions.

Monterey, California

Very foggy early, but it did start to clear off around noon. We took the 17-Mile Drive Monterey and Carmel City Tour, which we liked very much. My husband is a golfer, so he enjoyed getting to see Pebble Beach Golf Club (#18 green) up close and personal! We just wished it had not been so foggy! It would also have been nice to have had more than an hour in Carmel, as it took that long to get lunch and left no time to walk around.

Santa Barbara, California

Again FOGGY! We had no idea that it would be foggy all the way down the coast!! I went to Montecito (which was where the mudslides had been earlier in the year) and that was fine. My husband went on the Sip 'N Suds tour, which he enjoyed.
