Review summary

this was our first cruise on Celebrity. We sailed in the Suite Class. Booked another Celebrity cruise while on board in same class. Can I say more?

Embarkation

2 out of 5
although we were in suite class, only 2 of the 5 processes were expedited. There was another cruise also embarking at the time, so that probably also slowed it up.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
we ate in the Luminae as our main dining room and couldn't speak more highly of the food, ambience and staff. Our special dietary needs were met beyond expectations - eventually allowing our wonderful waiter, Roberto, from Brazil, and our host,Vlado from Yugoslavia, pick out all our food. Virginia the wine steward was also amazing - totally on target and anticipating our every requirement.

Qsine

5 out of 5

the food was so interesting and so much of it. The host (from India - Jowet(?) was wonderful - always remembering our dietary requirements and coming up with amazing variations . Great atmosphere and service, too.

Bistro on Five

5 out of 5

I believe I'm rating Sushi On Five. food was terrific, as was our favorite waitress, Supee. The host was attentive, always checking up to make sure everything was perfect. The variety of fish was limited, but tasted great!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
the shows were terrific at night (enhanced, of course by our amazing cruise director, Alejandro), but there was no piano bar or Blues Club. The water color classes lacked good quality paints and brushes although the instructor and her helper were great. Also, would have liked to have "duplicate bridge" games on board, especially since we had so many sea days. Enjoyed the Trivia (different themes and a "progressive") and am looking forward to playing "progressive golf" on our next Celebrity cruise.

Solarium

5 out of 5

Loved that covered spa pool (and hot tubs). Even on the cold days, the water was always hot and the "bars" and spouts were so much fun.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
the staff and performers were fabulous - don't know how they do it. Various afternoon activities, etc. in the theater on sea days. really would have liked a piano bar!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
If I could give 6 stars, instead of 5, I would. Our butler, Edwin, couldn't please us enough. We told him we wanted a chocolate vegan dessert every night, and wherever we were, we got it. His responses were quick (whether it be for laundry pickups, room service or anything else). Peri kept our room immaculate, and , in general, the staff was always happy and pleasant and very helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I'm very picky, but they were always one step ahead of me with attention to cleanliness and detail.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
very comfortable - would have liked a true luxurious duvet, vs. such a thin one, but Edwin brought us another blanket.

Ship tip

Take advantage of all extras offered. We had a tour of the bridge with the captain and co-captain, a special dinner with the (hotel) inventory person and the head of IT in Qsine, many cocktail parties at Michaels, etc.

Ports of call

Buenos Aires, Argentina

5 out of 5
we spent 4 days there before boarding, and loved it.

Ushuaia, Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina

4 out of 5
Tour started at 4:30 PM instead of 9:30 AM, so when it was over, we were too exhausted to visit the town. Did the catamaran excursion, but they had to rush the bus part, as we had such a late arrival.

Port Stanley, Falkland Islands Did not visit port

bad weather

Puerto Madryn, Argentina Did not visit port

propeller problems caused them to skip this port as the boat didn't travel at full speed.

Montevideo, Uruguay

5 out of 5
Had a private tour of a family winery and loved it! That night, our sommelier had a bottle of Uraguayan Tannat for us.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
we had a tour planned and the bus left without us. We had to take a taxi to the Tigre River and Delta to join our group.
