Review summary
My wife was attracted to this cruise as the ports of call have been of interest of hers for some time. I chose not to bring a suit for formal nights but did bring clothes that would qualify for smart casual but never broke them out either as when we went to the buffet, Ocean View Cafe, we looked at the menu that was usually posted for the Trellis Dining room and it didn't ever look very impressive, worth changing clothes for, even on the two formal nights it didn't look like anything special at all. This was our sixth cruise but first and may I add last with Celebrity. Appears that if you wish to enjoy a fine meal you need to dole out more money and eat in their specialty restaruants as they only seem to provide the fine dining like we've experienced with the other cruise lines that's included in your cruise price. They seem to have a policy of nickel and diming you, even $13 for a on demand movie in your stateroom. Overall the food was not very good, was cold and not very flavorfull. The menu in the buffet changed very little, pretty much the same thing every day. Some of the food actually appeared and tasted like it was left overs reheated slightly. One morning the station I went to ran out of bacon then I checked a bit later when it had a full tray of bacon that looked and tasted like it was from the day before. I also encountered a few workers that I felt were arrogant and maybe even disrespectful as they would finally acknowlege you in something less than english that was not fully understandable. Ask some a question and all they would do is reply "I don't know" and move away from you so not to give you any assistance at all. However, I must say that overall the majority of the crew members were very great, it was a small number. Guest relations sucks as well; you get very little information from them unless you do the leg work to go to the desk and stand in line. I went to them to find out when they would query the guests as to their disembarkation needs do to connections and flights, the reply to me was they don't do that. My concern is we had a flight about an hour earlier than Celebrity would provide tranfer service for so I had to make my own. So I told the young lady I needed to get off as early as possible doing self assist as they call it so she told me it would be at 0615 and I would receive information on the sea day which was the last full day. As I expected I never received the information regarding disembarkation but did get the baggage tags. So I went to guest relations again and explained my needs and the gal asked for my room number and then said with my number I'll be getting off at 0800 after I already told her I needed to get off early with self assist. Supposedly they made the disembarkation arrangements with the information we provided during embarkation which is a mistery to me, like they said they don't ask. So after I told her she wasn't listening to me I explained and now she tells me I can be ready to disembark at 0515 which was perfect for me. By the way, they don't go out of their way to have like some kind of a quick breakfast for people that need to leave early. Overall not all bad and maybe I should give 3 stars but for now 2 are enough.
