Review summary

This was a wonderful cruise and we had a fabulous experience, up until the last 2 sea days when my husband tested positive for Covid. I tested negative. We are both fully vaccinated and had all boosters. He was quarantined to our stateroom. I was allowed to leave the room but required to wear a mask. The staff did everything they could to make this bearable. They upgraded our WIFI, no charge for movies, no charge for room service meals. There was a quarantine concierge that worked with us to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, the service was outstanding. We truly had the best time, up until day 8.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very fast and efficient. We were prepared in advance in the Celebrity App and our boarding was very quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room food was delicious. We also used the buffet for some breakfasts and lunch and liked the food there as well. Our specialty restaurant experience at Tuscan Grill was good, but some courses were better than others. We liked our experience in the main dining room better.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the pool, although it was crowded on sea days. Getting a lounge chair was much easier in the afternoon than in the morning.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage shows were really good. We also enjoyed the musicians performing around the ship. The ABBA sing a long was lots of fun.

Children's Programs

We had no children on the trip.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward Neal was truly excellent. Our waiters in the main dining room was really good as well. The staff onboard the Equinox was first rate.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We loved the size of the Equinox. It was not too big and we never felt lost or overwhelmed with too many people. The ship was immaculate at all times.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our room was comfortable and always clean. The size seemed a little small compared to other ships we have been on. Our only complaint was storage - the room needed more drawers. We did not have enough and needed more hangers to put more in the closet.

Ship tip

There is not enough drawer space to put your clothes. Be prepared to hang up a lot of clothes.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
It was an easy process to embark and disembark at Ft. Lauderdale. We arrived a day early in the evening and returned home immediately after the cruise, so we did not do shore excursions there.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
We enjoyed St. Kitts. We did an excursion, Destination Highlight: Essential St. Kitts. This gave us a good overview of the island since this was our first time there. We would definitely go back to this island.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
We thought Barbados was very interesting. We did an excursion, Destination Highlight: Barbados Sightseeing, which took us to a few places of note on the island. We saw a beach on the Atlantic side that was beautiful but not safe for swimming. We passed quickly though the Caribbean beach area but did not stop. If we go back, we would focus more on a specialty tour or the beaches on the Caribbean side.

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
We thought St. Lucia was charming. Just a lovely island. We did an excursion, Destination Highlight: Beach and Capital by Trolley Train. The train was fun, but we felt like it limited some of the areas we could have gone to. The beach stop was fun, but too much soliciting by the locals and the water was a little cloudy. We loved the ambiance there and would definitely go back.

Fort-De-France, Martinique

5 out of 5
We were in Martinique on a Sunday and the downtown shops were closed. We did a walking tour on our own. We were not able to get a shore excursion for this destination. We enjoyed our own walking tour, were able to go into the cathedral, and do some shopping with vendors near the pier. We loved the island and would like to go back.

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
We liked Antigua and would go back, definitely for the beaches. We did an excursion, Destination Highlight: Scenic Island and Beach. This was the only tour that was disappointing. Our tour guide was not very knowledgeable, couldn't answer questions, and our driver's driving skills were not good. However, the beach we were taken to, Turner's Beach was truly awesome and we had a great time there.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
My husband came down with Covid the last 2 days of the cruise. We disembarked separately from the rest of the ship. We were expedited through customs and taken directly to the taxi area to minimize contact with other cruisers.

So sorry he got sick. My wife tested positive one day after our Equinox cruise last year. Some venues like Celebrity Central was too close and crowded for us, so we stayed away this year. Keep on cruising though !
