Review summary

Overall it was a decent cruise. Good food in speciality restaurants. Great mixed drinks. Excellent service. Peel all that back, you’re left with very little.

Embarkation

Relatively quick boarding. However, I was stopped and was asked for paperwork proving I could take my son on the cruise. His father passed and nowhere was I informed I needed to bring the death certificate. Kicked off my cruise in a negative way.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The specialty restaurants are the way to go on this ship. Main dining was lacking.

Bistro on Five

5 out of 5

I ate here twice. Really good sushi and drinks

Silhouette Restaurant

2 out of 5

Overly crowded and took a while to get sat. The reason why I normally purchase a specialty dining package for a couple nights

Le Petit Chef at Qsine

5 out of 5

The meal was delicious and my 5 year old loved it. The service was also fantastic

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Maybe I am just too young (30) to enjoy the ame tired on this boat but it was extremely boring in sea days. The pools was packed likely because it’s the only place kids could hang out. The arcade was full of broken games.

Entertainment

Children's Programs

Much better on RCCL. I was hoping they were comparable because they are sister companies. They charge extra for everything and the facilities were boring.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I’d have to try a different ship next time because the Equinox is a bit old and feels like it.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
I stayed in a concierge suite. The perks honestly were not with the extra money. I’d book a normal balcony next time

Ship tip

If you are older and want to hang out with the 50+ crowd, celebrity is a CruiseLine for you. I would not recommend this for people with children under 21. I wouldn’t recommend it for my 30 year old self.

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
Waterpark was great but coming back was awful. They created a tourist trap that you cannot escape from. Beware

Key West, Florida

2 out of 5
Not much to do there. Walked around for an hour and went back to the ship. It was nice to not have a sea day I suppose

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
The dolphin encounter and turtle centre was great.

Decent cruise, excellent food, mixed drinks and service. Not sure what else anyone would need.

Sorry it wasn’t a great cruise but if you had read most reviews you would have realized that they cater to an older crowd.

I always bring the death certificate for my children's father but no one has ever asked for it. I am sorry you went through that.
