The perks of concierge class seem to be "slipping" a bit, but overall, a great cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived early enough to breeze through the lines. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Happy to see that "Lobster night" is back in the main dining room. Specialty restaurant Murano was an experience (as usual) and all the food and food service was great.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Crew had to really scramble to add activities for an unexpected sea day and did a great job.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Shows were very entertaining.... although we found "Elesium" to be a bit "headdy" and hard to follow the story line when the words of the songs were hard to understand. The production quality was very good with skilled lighting, etc. but I couldn't understand the words.
Children's Programs
We did not have children on board with our party
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of our attending staff did a great job and were very coridal and friendly.
Miami is buidling and has contstruction all over the place. We rented a car for a post cruise stay and if it were not for GPS, we would have had considerable difficulty. Navigating the ins and outs of the airport was challenging.
Our stop at this port was cancelled due to weather/winds. It was disappointing that there did not seem to be any accomodation from the cruise line, other than extra daytime activities on board, to compensate for this itinerary change. A port credit of about $12.00 just didn't seem sufficient and showed up on our account statement without explanation.
We did a private excursion to the ruins at Chacchoben. Our guide was fantastic! Somehow he remembered the name of EVERY person on the bus tour and the bus was full! He had degrees in Archeology, History and Anothropology and was extremely well qualified and knowledgable.
Would have loved to see some public access to a beach area that could be walkable from the port - in any of the ports, actually.... An "excursion" for a hefty price should not be necessary just to sit on a beach.
Concierge class is supposed to have "priority" embarkaiton and disembarkation... We had a designated waiting space -- but out of 48 numbered groups, we were number 38 .... Not what I would call "priority". For the "tendered" port -- there was no priority for Concierge class either... We were in line with everyone else, making me wonder if Concierge class is worth the extra cost.
