I would not recommend Celebrity. I had hoped to see some enrichment programs, perhaps some information about the ports we would see. The very few programs were unpleasant, the port information was just a map of where to buy trinkets, and the food was spotty at best, The 24 hour drinks station closes at midnight and does not re-open until 6 am. There is no alternative. If we cruise again, it will not be on Celebrity.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Long wait times in line at the Miami port. The lines moved very slowly and the staff at the port were abrupt in their directions.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food on Celebrity was hit and miss. The service was spotty as well. One of the nights in the dining room the meat was so fatty, it was un-edible. To my surprise, several times items were left off our order- this happened during breakfast, lunch and dinner. I believe this may have been to a staff issue in the kitchen, though who can say.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
There were few if any on board activities available on the ship. The few that were listed were just about shopping and gambling. I was informed by the entertainment staff that this is just a revenue ship.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
The shows on Celebrity were odd....to say the least. One of the shows was titled "Explore the Solar System". It was a 45 minute show of pictures drawn by people who sketched the rockets that might be used for the first machines into outer space. The one presenting the show stated he was a botanist and that this was not his background or interest. (Nice to be told that). The comedian show was about how old he felt and how very hard life is once you leave your 20's. He also mentioned that his wife thought he was having a heart attack and to get off her. :( Very inappropriate and not funny.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The service and staff were kind.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The design of the ship was fine. There seems to be many spots not utilized on the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
The layout of the room was fine. The bed linens were scratchy to say the least. The balcony had rust in several places.
Ship tip
If you are looking for a relaxing cruise to really just sit and read a book, this cruise is for you.
Disembarkation was a breeze! We could HARDLY wait to get off! We kept our bags, stood in a short line and was off the ship in about 15 minutes. We were in our car and zipped out! A breeze!
We have been on numerous Celebrity cruises, including 3 back to back resulting in an around the world in 2 months trip. I couldn't disagree more wit Clarkdaw2's comments. Everything on Celebrity has been consistently top rate, including food and informational meetings ( not necessarily shopping talks). We leave again shortly on another BtB. Sorry you didn't enjoy your cruise.
Just completed a BtB of 21 days on Equinox. Hurricane Irma cause port changes at last minute. Found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating to the situation. I have cruised other lines and with more than 11 cruises with Celebrity recommend them without reservation.
We been on 7 Celebrity Cruises never once seen advertisement that there was a 24 hour drink station. I research the ports on google in advance. Celebrity's food is always awesome.
