Overall, this was a wonderful trip! Celebrity did a great job with food and service. I am now hooked on cruising and would love to revisit the Celebrity Equinox!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was seamless. The only reason I did not give five stars is because the luggage porter was very pushy about tipping. $1 per bag was given and he asked, "Is that all?".
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We did not eat at any of the specialty restaurants. The food in the main dining room was excellent the servers were amazing and so much fun! The food at the buffet was presented beautifully and was very good. The only thing not great were the scrambled eggs. Go for the omelettes at the omelette station.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Most of our time onboard was spent at the pool. We learned to go early if we wanted chairs. The solarium area is very nice as well.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We went to Frisky Fued which was a riot! We also went to a comedy show that was a lot of fun.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
All service was above excellent! The only negative experience was with an issue at the spa and the spa staff did not respond in a customer focused way. That was disappointing.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This is a beautiful ship. Everything was clean and well-maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had three adults in our cabin and we we're very comfortable. With some pre planning for organization, we did not feel like we were on top of each other. Strong magnetic hooks work great for hanging up hats, robes, lanyards, etc. also, buy collapsable storage cubes from the dollar store for above bed storage cabinets. The balcony was a great size and we enjoyed stringing up the hammock!
Ship tip
1. Buy luggage tag holders if you plan on printing your tags.
2. Get to the pool area early to get good chairs and plan on using them. There are a lot of chair hogs.
3. There's no need to go to a specialty restaurant. The food in the main dining room is excellent!
We did the nocturnal zip line. Be aware that the description says you will see bioluminescent bugs, but this is NOT accurate! The zip line staff said that is not part of the excursion. We enjoyed ourselves regardless. We still had time to eat at Senior Frogs for dinner before getting back on the ship.
St. Thomas is beautiful! We took a catamaran to two snorkeling destinations. The first spot did not have much sea life. We say a couple of turtles and stingrays. The second location was a shipwreck that was pretty neat. On the way back they served rum punch which was good.
We took a shuttle to Orient beach, but did not venture to the nude side of the beach. I think the shuttle was $13 pp. we found chairs and a cabana boy set things up for us. He was excellent at keeping our drinks coming and serving us lunch. The water and views were beautiful!
The entertainment was pretty good. Overall music is mostly geared to a little older crowd (60+). As a group of ladies around 40 we still knew and enjoyed the music, but thought they should have more current music options. We went to a game show that was tons of fun and the comedy show was very funny.
