Review summary

We would do this cruise or any cruise with Celebrity Equinox. Everything was beyond our expectations and we will remember this experience forever. Sadly, within two days of the end of our trip, Hurricane Irma destroyed most of what we enjoyed. Thank you, Celebrity Equinox for a wonderful vacation!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were prepared to experience chaos, long lines and endless wait times. We were pleasantly surprised to leave our shuttle bus, walk straight into the building, have our passports and boarding passes checked, spoke with a representative who provided our sea pass cards and we were on board. Total time from start to finish was less than about 7 minutes! What a great process!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All dining areas were fully staffed by pleasant, helpful workers. All areas were attractive, exceptionally clean and offered a wide variety of excellent food. All beverage areas (bars) were also attractive and staffed by individuals who honestly cared about the needs of the passengers.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There are so many activities onboard the Celebrity Equinox that you cannot possibly take advantage of all of them. It is difficult to choose but we especially enjoyed the glass blowing demonstration, the "silent disco", the December '63 show, karaoke and the casino. Live entertainment was also enjoyable.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All onboard entertainment was professional and thoroughly enjoyable. We were able to enjoy them each day.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The onboard staff of the Celebrity Equinox is definitely 5 star! Every employee is personable, professional, smiling and quick to greet you. We were treated with the utmost respect and friendliness.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship and all of its areas are immaculate.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was clean, comfortable and attended to daily by Edwin. We fully appreciate the lengths our cabin steward went to in order to ensure our comfort. We couldn't have asked for more.

Ship tip

Take advantage of all that is offered. The ship is loaded with opportunities to enjoy yourself.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
We embarked and disembarked from Miami. Our embarkation was seamless as was our disembarkation.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We took a motor trip around the island as recommended by the ship. We were not disappointed and we were able to see a good overview of San Juan.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Although St. Maaten appears to be a rather poor area, we were fortunate to have chosen a bus excursion with Tonya who was an excellent guide. Tonya is personable and fun-loving. She made the trip worthwhile. We was many sights and enjoyed all of it. We even got to stand at the fence and watch the airplanes come roaring in!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
A very nice vehicle trip around the island with frequent stops for sightseeing, eating and shopping. This excursion is recommended by Celebrity and it was worth the time and money.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Beautiful area. We chose to use our time at the beach and some shopping near the dock. It was a very wonderful and relaxing experience.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Due to the high volume of visitors (4 ships were docked that day), we chose to spend time on our own just walking and browsing through the town. We enjoyed ourselves but returned to the ship due to the congestion and extreme heat that day. Still, it was a worthwhile venture.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Our disembarkation was seamless. We waited in a comfortable area until called to disembark. We went straight through the process, no delays and directly to a bus that transported us to the Miami airport. Very well planned out.

The good news is you can re-book, re-live, and re-enjoy the first part - and then re-invent the last part, on your next cruise.

Hurricane Irma destroyed a whole lot of what we enjoyed here in Florida.
