Review summary

Excellent cruise, went with family & we all throughly enjoyed it, even with different age groups. Understated in a good way, not in your face, relaxing, calm - just how we like it.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We left our cases with luggage handlers, once inside we were informed that our room number had changed. I had to go looking for our cases, once located at a service lift, staff on board brought our cases to our room

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We tried all 4 included restaurants particularly enjoyed the Tuscan restaurant, we ate there 3x. Buffet wasn’t good at dinner time, poor selection. Went to the steak restaurant to celebrate a special birthday & there were hidden charges such as service charge & taxes. The food was so good in the included restaurants that the pay for one really wasn’t worth the extra cost, even with on board credit. Due to covid restrictions, the buffet staff were at each station so you weren’t allowed to lift what you wanted & often got too much. Also a queue for anything toasted.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
As we were part of a family group we didn’t avail of any activities. Read in the solarium on sea day as quieter than main pool & no risk of sunburn.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We particularly liked the group playing in Eden each evening for sail away. Then later when the 5 came together, they were fantastic!

Children's Programs

No children in group

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All excellent, even when we’d issues the help desk on 3 were great. Restaurant staff were excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Absolutely, clean & well maintained. Didn’t see the point of the forest area on way to Tiffany’s & Eden. Really quite creepy. Easy to get disoriented, quite a walk from the lift to the room if you come down in the wrong end. Getting off on deck 2 not connected, ended up at medical centre instead of disembarkation point. Had to cross on deck 4 before going down to get off.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The infinite veranda was not operational when we arrived & they are locked when tenders are washed, daily. The doors to the infinite veranda were difficult to operate. I’d my nails done for holiday & one spilt in 2 trying to operate the doors. I had to leave during a family dinner to get nail fixed, although cruise line did cover cost of nail fix. Ladies in our group were not fans of the infinite veranda, really not the same as stepping out onto a balcony. However men liked the extra space that it gave the room. Room could’ve been cleaner, our steward made a point of telling us the hours she worked. Otherwise room was comfortable.

Ship tip

The transfer to Rome airport is $70-80 per person, so if you have onboard credit, maybe consider using it towards cost. Be careful of hidden taxes & charges if you go to a pay for restaurant. Consider putting a tracker in your luggage, if delayed, nightmare to get back as you move every day

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Did independently pre boarding, great shopping

Valencia, Spain

5 out of 5
Dropped off at walls to city, pleasant for a stroll around & decent shops

Ibiza, Balearic Islands

4 out of 5
Not the prettiest of ports past the harbour but good if you like shopping

Portofino, Italy

5 out of 5
Beautiful, the nicest port by far, but very expensive. Only tendered port, magic carpet to get off worked well

Ajaccio, Corsica

4 out of 5
Quite a large port, markets & shops. Think there is a fort too

La Spezia, Italy

4 out of 5
Good if you like markets. It’s huge, running down both sides of long street, but you need a tourist train to get to/from, about €10 each return, so hold onto your ticket. Train journey is lovely for a tour of area but as on road, bumpy in parts.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy Did not visit port

Got off & bus to airport

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Great once you found exit. Portifino is the only tender port, so they use the magic carpet to get onto tender which works well
