Review summary

This is a beautiful ship and the decor is relaxing and welcoming. There are still a few teething problems being a new ship, but well worth the experience

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The best we have ever had. From the curb to the ship in less than 10 minutes. As Elite Captain's Club guests we had priority boarding, so dropped our luggage with the porter, straight up the escalator to check in. They tried to scan our Express Passes, but our print-out was not clear enough, so they re-printed, which was the only delay. Straight through security, welcomed by name at the gangway (due to facial recognition) and we were on board!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The split dining rooms worked mostly well. Cyprus, Tuscan and Normandie were excellent, but there were some scheduling issues in Cosmopolitan and the service wasn't quite as good. Le Petit Chef was a lot of fun and the service excellent. Eden Restaurant - food was amazing (worth the extra money), but entertainment was just weird. Oceanview Cafe was spacious and always had good variety. Cafe al Bacio was very good (as on all Celebrity ships)

Cyprus Restaurant

5 out of 5

Best complimentary restaurant on board - fresh food and great service

Café Al Bacio

5 out of 5

large space with plenty of seating and great service

Tuscan Restaurant

5 out of 5

Tasty Italian food

The Sunset Bar

4 out of 5

Nice view, but seems a bit isolated from the rest of the ship

The Martini Bar

4 out of 5

Central meeting space of an evening. Limited table service.

Oceanview Café

4 out of 5

Plenty of space and good variety of food

Normandie

5 out of 5

Great food and service

Mast Grill

4 out of 5

Good quick eats.

Cosmopolitan Restaurant

3 out of 5

disorganized and ordinary service

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Gym facilities are excellent, with plenty of cardio machines

Solarium

4 out of 5

nice relaxing space, but I miss the complimentary access to sauna/steam room on other classes of Celebrity ships

Boutique Shops

2 out of 5

Very expensive merchandise - no entry level items

Eden

4 out of 5

the venue is amazing with nice corner to relax. The entertainment is just bizarre at best

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Main theatre productions were excellent. The design of the theatre meant there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Entertainment around the ship was good, but sometimes repetitive.

The Theatre

5 out of 5

Amazing open space, and the digital backdrop really adds to the performance

Rooftop Garden

4 out of 5

nice open rooftop space - will be even nicer once plants grow a bit more

Children's Programs

no children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As usual, the service was exceptional. Plenty of staff in most venues. The Martini Bar got busy in peak periods, but that was an exception.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Generally the ship layout is good with passenger flow easy throughout. The exceptions are the lack of being able to get to the front of the ship (unless you are a suite guest), like you can on other Celebrity ships (this may change with the Revolution), and the location of the hot tubs - while these look nice, having to go up two decks from the pool (through the smoking area) to access them is very inconvenient.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Beautifully appointed, with plenty of storage and a beautiful bathroom. Use the app to create lighting moods for the room. The one small negative is the limited room between the bed and the TV - just a bit tight.

Ship tip

Try as many of the different restaurants as possible - they all offer something different.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
Very smooth embarkation

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Still recovering from the hurricanes of 2017, but making good progress.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Took a day trip to St John - beautiful and mostly National Park

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
rough around the edges - maybe make this a beach day

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
The facial recognition made this fast and easy. Off the ship, collected luggage and out to the curb in 10 minutes - no other immigration process other than facial recognition and passport check. Celebrity transfers were a mess though. Had booked one to Miami Airport through Celebrity, but there was no-one directing you where to go, and no signs on the buses. When we finally found the correct bus, we sat for over an hour before departing (even though all the people on the transfer should have disembarked the ship in the same group) while the contracted company was trying to fill the empty seats with anyone walking by - not good enough Celebrity.
