Celebrity Eclipse Cruise Reviews - Reviews

This was our third Celebrity Cruise and the second on one of the Solstice Class ships.   These ships are breathtakingly beautiful in the 'common areas'.  Additionally, the main dining room is far better than most other ships we've traveled on.   The staff are excellent; efficient without being over-solicitous.  The cruise itself, it's ports and it's time in each was 'just right'---although it would always be 'even better' for more time in New York City.   And, let me add, I had thought we would be 'berthed' in the Bayonne NJ port for our stay over in NYC.  But, the dockage at Pier 90 was simply perfect for theater going and anything else one wanted to do while in NYC.   Most of all, there are few cities (Venice comes to mind) where the 'sail in' and 'sail out' are as dramatic and beautiful as entering Manhattan via the Hudson river near dusk!

The 'featured entertainment was also excellent.  I must add, however, that the actual Celebrity entertainment was, in my opinion 'lacking'.  With so many cruises using contemporary Broadway or other venues for the emphasis of the four (or so) "Ships Dancer's and Singer's Night's, I found Celebrity's choice of their in-house music and choreography to be definitely lacking.  That fact, plus what I can only consider a 'redesign' of the balcony staterooms (seemingly smaller and less 'storage space') to be the only 'downsides' of what was otherwise an outstanding 16 day vacation.

This was our first cruise on Celebrity - and it will not be our last!  We were celebrating our 50th anniversary, and chose to go first class all the way.  So we booked Suite accommodations on the Eclipse.  Boarding the ship was a breeze, and immediately after finding our stateroom, we met our Butler, Harold.  And true to his word, he handled everything we needed - from dining reservations to breakfast in our stateroom to laundry and so on.  We then discovered Luminae, a separate dining area for suite guests - spacious and never crowded with top flight service people.  The ship was elegant, yet not overstated, and immaculate.  The destinations were all excellent - especially St. Petersburg.  Take this cruise if you have the chance.

if you want the vacation of a life time, you should try 14 day cruises on Celebrity Eclipse.

Celebrity seems a touch above most of the other cruise lines - Princess, Holland America, NCL. They give you service with a smile in a very personal way. Their excursions are well organized.

The overall Cruise was very good. I think you can skip the port of call in Klaipeda 

Lithuania, I don't understand why the only night that Duck was on the menu,was the same night as Lobster???? 

The Kitchen was not able to serve breakfast in a timely manner for those going on 

on shore

This cruise all in all was okay. Food was good but buffet had a lot of the same stuff everyday. Dinning room was better but took one and a half hours to finish. They need a 24 hour resturant like on NCL. There is room service but that's not the same.  Entertainment was a highlight of this cruise. Something different everynight. The cruise port in Klaipeda Lithuania was a waste of time, nothing really there to see or do. Port of Warnemunde Germany was a let down for us because our excursion operator took to long to tell us what we were looking at. Not enough stops on the tour. Berlin was rebuilt to a 1980s look not how it was. The riverboat tour was to short and the spree river had a lot of trash floating in it and looked dirty. The best port for us was Gdynia Poland. A wonderful old world town with lots to see and do. The city was hard hit from the war but they brought it back to the way it was. Got plentry of great photos and people were very friendly.  Only problem was it was the shortest time in port of all the places we went. For the price paid it could have been better.

We live in UK in summer, Florida in winter and always use a repositioning cruise to commute. We have tried NCL, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Cunard but have settled on Celebrity as the line that best meets our needs. As Elite members of Captain's Club we benefit from various amenities which considerably enhance the overall experience.

Destinations on this trip were inspiring and some of the lecturers were outstanding.

Entertainment was original and professional.

Variety and quality of food were exceptional.

Worthy of special mention were Hotel Director Darren Tiller and Cruise Director Sue Denning.

Just one suggestion: although American owned and with a high proportion of American guests, efforts should be made to prepare Americans for a European experience, e.g temperatures in Celsius, times in 24 hour format.

as is usual celebrity delivered their promise of a wonderful cruise.

lived up to my expectation......except the casino off course .and i wished i had gotten some shipboard credit or a welcome item from the cruise line, but my travel agent ... made up for that. thank you.

This was a very good cruise for us.  The service on the Eclipse was outstanding and the relaxing atmosphere was very good.  We chose to spend more time on our own rather than taking part in planned activities because that worked for us.  We enjoyed our dining experiences and would recommend this cruise.

We enjoyed everything re this cruise.  Boarding was efficient and easy.  Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating.  We felt that food was very good, especially in the main dining room.  Cruise director Sue was just the best...talented, funny and congenial.  Excursions went smoothly...loved snorkeling in the clear, turquoise waters.  Most ship entertainment was excellent, especially the big cast productions -  outstanding.  We were concerned that we might get tired of such a long cruise, but that wasn't the case with so many activities to do.  We would highly recommend this cruise.

My wife and I had an excellent time on our cruise to the Southern Caribbean aboard the Celebrity Eclipse. The food was excellent in both the Oceanside Cafe or in the specialty restaurant(Tuscan Grill) we went to. The crew was fabulous. They were very attentive to or needs. Always smiling and willing to help in any way. This was our 3rd cruise on a Celebrity ship and none of them have disappointed us. 

Another cruise with Celebrity (No. 6) and this one was the most relaxing cruise I have ever taken - which is what I wanted.  The ship (Eclipse) was well staffed with excellent people, food was quite good and plentiful, cleanliness was everywhere.  Opportunity to sit back and relax was almost everywhere.  I recommend this cruise to anyone who is looking for what I looked for - and received.

The food in the main dining room was excellent (better selection and/or quality IMHO than HAL, Royal Caribbean, Azamara, Oceania, and Hurtigruten)

Our waiter Charniel and assistant waiter Petar were the best we ever experienced. Very proficient, attentive, and friendly.

The stateroom and verandah were fine, roomy and comfortable enough for the two of us.

The ship's tours were reasonably priced for the most part (lower than other lines except for  one that offers 50% off if you book before the cruise). This was our first East Caribbean cruise so can't really compare.

The final disembarking procedure was the very best of any other line that we have sailed on.

 Internet connection was essentially useless, way too long to open websites and download/upload mail. All the remote islands have high speed so why can't ships at sea? Is the slowness a function of the money they can rake in?

Charging for bottled water when disembarking on a ship-sponsored land tour (many other lines provide gratis)

"Happy Hour" applies only to the drink of the day (other lines have 2 for 1 on everything)

The Mast Grill had very few tables. Diners were expected to sit on chaise lounges balancing their plates and drinks. I complained and they doubled the tables to about 10. The pool deck only has chaise lounges along the rails, other lines have tables and chairs where you can play games, have a drink< ETC>

Wonderful ship, staff, service.  Great ports.  Nice stateroom: roomy, clean, comfortable.  Great shows.  Very well trained staff that does everything they can to make you happy.  A huge ship that never feels crowded.  We like to have places on a ship where we can feel "away from the crowd" and we did.

Superb entertainment. We really enjoined the opportunity to dance every night.

All the bands were great and we enjoyed the shows we went to.

Our stateroom was excellent, and our stateroom attendant Vejay was so helpful.

One small complaint is that we could not order butter and/or jam etc. from the in-room breakfast menu.

Great itinerary. Service and food at Blu restaurant less than expected. Did not care for layout of Cellar Masters. Service and food at Tuscan, Adobe and Murano specialty restaurants was exceptional.

Celebrity cruise line went above and beyond to provide excellent service, quality food and entertainment. Genuinely friendly, courteous, helpful staff that provided all requests that were made. Excellent cruise. 

Too many children on board to enjoy cruise. Running, yelling, disruptive behavior and parents not controling their children.

Had I realized that there would be that many children on board I would have booked a later date for my cruise.

Our cruise on the Summit in 2002 was more enjoyable than this cruise.

This was a fantastic cruise from the moment we booked through our agent Donna, until the last good-by to our friends when we had to disembark at cruise end. Donna kept track of our on-line progress for getting ready to sail...the ports we stopped at were beautiful. The entertainment of Perry Grant in the Cellar Masters was delightful.

Very nice ship - nice itinerary.  But DO NOT go out of Miami during holiday or school break time - many foreigners - particularly Brits - too many children who were unruly/undisciplined and allowed to roam the ship at will.  They were a safety hazard - security did not seem able to control them/situation.  Dinner in the main dining room left much to be desired - mostly poor menu (got worse, the more days we were on the ship), seafood quality was bad - Red Lobster would not serve this, overall food preparation was very so-so.  Our waitstaff in the main dining room were excellent.  Cabin 9197 was in perfect location and had BEST cabin stewards EVER!
