Review summary

Great cruise overall. Alaska is a place to take in the sights, for sure. If you want to ditch the Caribbean and do something different and scenic, come here!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation went very well despite an ongoing labor strike at the Vancouver cruise port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room was great. Enough selections to not be overwhelming and the food tasted wonderfully. They went out of their way to accommodate my allergies. The only complaint I have is that there wasn’t nearly enough seating in the main dining area (Oceanside Cafe). The ship was at capacity but there needs to be enough space to where people aren’t having to spend more time looking for a place to sit down and eat than they need for actual eating.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Celebrity offers a tranquil, yet entertaining experience. You won’t find go karts etc here but this brand isn’t about that. It’s a very classy vibe that has plenty of places for relaxation, world-class fitness center and more. Loved the gym and the different relaxation areas. The lawn area at the top of the ship was cool as well.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were awesome, as was the silent disco and the DJ. Very fun! Still quiet and not a “party boat” atmosphere.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was particularly amazing. They go out of their way to make you feel special.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Staff keeps rooms and all areas of the ship spotless which was great.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Was impressed at the size of this cabin with a view of the front of the ship and the helipad. Very comfortable king size bed and enough room to walk around.

Ship tip

Book early and try to go during a time of year where it won’t be so crowded. Weather is a crapshoot in Alaska but if you get lucky enough to have blue skies like we did, it’s an amazing destination.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

4 out of 5
Ongoing labor strike dampened the experience but the port itself was very nice. People we interacted with were nice.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
Very scenic! Gorgeous.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

1 out of 5
I thought this port was going to be somewhat dull, but it was one of the better ones! Got to get out and walk, and the gondola was fun!

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
This was the best part of the trip. Glaciers are stunning!!!

Juneau, Alaska

3 out of 5
Ok so we did an excursion to the outskirts of Juneau to a park with a glacier and a waterfall. This was amazing! The downtown area of Juneau is kinda lame and basically is a bunch of tourist shops with t-shirts. No charm to it.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
A great port with a lot of charm. Very pretty to look at when going around. Do a “bus-boat” tour!!!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Sad that we had to leave but made me want to go to Anchorage next time for a more city-infused experience. The cruise was one that I’ll never forget!
