Review summary

We have always wanted to stay in an AFT corner Sky suite. It was lovely but tired and the suite experience started off rocky with our embarkation due to the staff at the OPT not knowing who was entitled to what. Luminae was a little hit or miss but the maitre d here was exceptional when he heard about our concerns. Marlene in Michael's Club was a gem and really helped us when wanting to make/change bookings. Amnah, our butler, went out of her way to make sure we had an enjoyable 45th wedding anniversary and cruise. She even brought us nibbles and wine for 8 off us when we had a suite party! We felt this cruise was a little hit or miss...the drinks were certainly not comparable to previous cruises. But, we love Celebrity and will cruise again with them shortly.

Embarkation

We had a suite and was jostled from line to line to get on board. We went to the Retreat Line and was told it was only for Royal and Penthouse suites.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Luminae was very slow and we did feel like we didn't exist on several occasions.

Blu Restaurant

3 out of 5

Because we were in a suite, we had access to Blu. Even though we have been really hanging out to go there, we found that the food was average and the place was extremely noisy. Would prefer the main dining room.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Trivia was great

Entertainment

We made our own fun!

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
I would have given 3 as the Luminae staff were all intent of trying to get 10/10 and we had this rammed down our throats almost daily. However, Santa in the Cellarmans Bar was exceptional, along with our Butler, Amnah. We felt that there should have been more staff in the Casino bar, especially as there was the World Cup Soccer on.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Cleanliness was excellent and we love the Solstice class ships!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was a lovely room but lacked wardrobe storage compared to Princess. The carpet was worn by the beautiful balcony and the curtains when looking closely at them were torn and really needed replacing.

Ports of call

Lifou Isle, New Caledonia Did not visit port

We did not get off the ship as we have been there before.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and speedy.

Thanks for sharing your cruise

Eclipse was only sailing at approx 2,200 passengers. Quite a few children though due to school holidays commencing here in Australia.

Congratulations on your anniversary, what a milestone👍 Have to agree with some of your observations regarding your experience. We’ve sailed Celebrity a few times and our last sailing on Solstice was a bit hit and miss as well. The M.D was a bit average but the buffet was outstanding and you don’t go hungry. We offered some constructive feedback on the M.D and we were given a freebie in one of the specialty restaurants which was superb 👍 I agree the design of the Solstice class is fantastic. Just wondering what capacity she sailed at and how was the entertainment? Cheers
