We had a terrific time on this cruise. If we were to do it again, we might choose a one way cruise (Vancouver to Anchorage?) so that we would see more cities in the same time away from home rather than the round trip in and out of Vancouver.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The Vancouver facilities are very nice. There were lines, but the lines moved quickly. I think it took about 1 hour from start to finish.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was excellent and plentiful. If there was a problem with the food, it was that there were too many good choices! We mostly enjoyed the buffet. The main dining room was very nice with outstanding service. We tried one specialty restaurant-- Qsine-- which offered unforgettable dinner/entertainment. We were very pleased. We ate most of our meals outdoors on the back deck which was exceptionally pleasant!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was so much to do! We mostly enjoyed the fitness center; the ship's fitness instructor was outstanding. We had some surprisingly good weather on the Alaska cruise and got to enjoy time on the deck walking, relaxing, using the hot tub. We took in a movie. We watched other people dance and dance and dance. There was plenty to do!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The stage shows were all outstanding. There was music everywhere. I loved it!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff were all exceedingly friendly and supportive. If you tried to take a selfie, someone was almost always around offering to take the picture. Our room attendant was phenomenal. The staff routinely did everything possible to exceed our expectations.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was great. Plenty of different areas to explore. Completely clean and well kept.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We read this was a terribly noisy room. That wasn't our impression. The room was big, clean, and comfortable. The balcony was bigger than what we needed. I wouldn't change a thing about the room. I did bring, as some website recommended, a cruise-compatible multi-outlet strip and some inexpensive magnetic hooks (to put on the metal walls and have more hanging space) that came in handy.
Ship tip
Internet access isn't good, especially when not in a port. So if you are hoping to get away from being connected, the cruise is perfect!
My wife and I loved Vancouver. We did not do an excursion there. We did rent electric bikes and rode for hours. My wife is not a cyclist but still loved it, as Vancouver is an extraordinarily bike-friendly city.
We got off early with our luggage (and didn't wait for the luggage to be removed for us). There was essentially no lines and no waiting once we got off the ship that way. We then took a taxi to the airport rather than wait for the ship's shuttle service to take us.
