Review summary

Cruise was excellent. After having an average experience at Disney and Royal Caribbean we decided to try Celebrity after reading reviews. We were definitely not disappointed. The quality of the food, service and amenities are unbeatable. The itinerary is amazing, it is definitely different than a Caribbean cruise, it is cold, but you definitely don't feel uncomfortable. It is actually quite nice not having to sleep in a hot cabin (in the hot climate the A/Cs generally don't work well). Hubbard is amazing. Definitely get a cabin with balcony, it is worth every penny. I never cruise if I can't afford a Balcony. However, getting on the top of the ship at Hubbard is a must! My two disappointments on this cruise (despite the Vancouver port which is absolutely garbage) were that they didn't had Caymus wine onboard (my favorite) and the Tuscan Grille was a total waste of money.

Embarkation

Took 3 hours to board the ship. Canada forces you to wear a mask, which is ridiculous. There's no priority line for Global Entry/NEXUS, no priority for Concierge class. Lines are super long, disorganized and rude employees that can barely speak English.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
It was the best ones we have experienced ever. There were only two minor disappointments: Tuscan is a fake italian and overpriced. The Little Chef while is a nice experience has very limited food choices. The buffet exceeded expectations. The drink package we had was perfect (Premium Alcohol) which was included on our perks.

Onboard Activities

Pools for adults and kids are very nice and heated. We used them even with 40F outside and with rain. The adults area is open for kids from 4-6pm. The hot tubs are smaller than other ships we have been to.

Children's Programs

Both my kids loved the kids club and the X club.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Fantastic, they were professional, caring and really did listen to comments. Cruise director and captain of that ship were like two peas in a pod. Great synergy and provided great information and a wonderful experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
There were people cleaning common areas all the time. I really have no complaints about that at all.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We got upgraded to the concierge class cabin 9289 which is the same as 9200 but on the Port side. I always choose port side, glad we could get upgraded to one. The size is average, no different than other ships.

Ship tip

Avoid Vancouver, but, if you must, then arrive early, well fed and with lots of patience.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Absolutely garbage. Must be demolished. Employees should be all fired. Needs to get rid of stupid masking regulations. Must have indeed priority for guests who bought that perk and have Global Entry/NEXUS. I will never ever sail out of Vancouver ever again.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Absolutely beautiful scenery. You must be out on the balcony or on the top decks of the ship. You'll spot beautiful landscape, whales and dolphins.

Sitka, Alaska

Took the shuttle bus to downtown and explored on our own. Near the science center you'll see a lot of salmon and bald eagles. There are bald eagles pretty much everywhere. Visit the Church, it is absolutely beautiful.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

No words, pictures, videos can describe this. It is the highlight of this cruise.

Juneau, Alaska

Explored on our own, walked to the governor's mansion. We didn't do tours but this is supposedly the best place to watch whales. Tours were too expensive ($500-$750 for a family of 4).

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Beautiful city, took a tour on our own. It was substantially cheaper, but, wasn't that great. Wasn't bad either, but there is construction going around town which made the tour a bit chaotic. There's a free shuttle to Walmart :-).

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was very easy compared to the boarding. Quick exit, but, again, the Vancouver port had issues with equipment and everyone had to carry their own luggage. For us it wasn't an issue as we needed to get out as quick as possible. If you are going to UBER it is a GOOD walk from the port. They don't like UBER/Lyft so they prioritize the expensive taxis.

I wonder what happened at the port that day. Earlier cruises reported smooth embarkations.
