Review summary

We regularly cruise with Celebrity, and our Alaska cruise on Eclipse was one of our best! The entire staff was professional and friendly, and our dining experiences were consistently enjoyable. Gorgeous, sunny weather was a bonus!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The team at the port in Vancouver was friendly and efficient. We were quickly on board after arrival, making a great start to our vacation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We sailed in Aqua Class, so we dined in Blu for breakfast and dinner. Our entire experience was excellent with delicious, well-presented meals and outstanding service from the entire restaurant staff. We have been in Suite Class on our previous two cruises and didn't feel Blu was a step down from Luminae. The view out the floor-to-ceiling windows was stunning! We ate one dinner in Murano, which was a special experience and well worth the upcharge. We ate lunch at the Oceanview Cafe, where we enjoyed the wide variety of offerings.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The fitness center was large with ample cardio equipment and weights. It was especially enjoyable to workout while watching the beautiful Alaska coastline go by while at sea.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Entertainment was hit and miss on our cruise, but we found the acts with singers in the Ensemble Lounge to be very enjoyable.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone we encountered on board was friendly and professional. Cruz, our cabin steward, amazed us with his almost stealth-like work keeping our cabin in tip-top shape. We felt so spoiled!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Great. We love the layout of Celebrity's Solstice Class ships. We never felt crowded, and we enjoy the artwork around the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Nice central location on a high deck with an extra deep balcony at the edge of the central "hump." Ample drawers and closets. Loved the bathroom set up. Some voice and chair noise from the deck above, but it didn't bother us.

Ship tip

Go for the Premium Beverage Package. We saw so many fellow passengers asking bartenders what they could get with their dink package or being told what they ordered was not included. It is a modest uncharge to get [almost] whatever you want!

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Exciting city with great dining options.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Beautiful.

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
A really charming town. We hiked Mount Verstovia, which was intense, but the spectacular views made it all worth it.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
This was the highlight of our trip. The weather was gorgeous, and, due to the lack of ice in the water, the captain was able to take us surprisingly close to the glacier.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
Juneau is fine. We hiked the East Glacier Loop at Mendenhall, but the glacier has retreated so much we mostly just looked at the lake that is at its base.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
We only spent a little time in town, which is nice enough, but we would recommend an excursion instead.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Well organized and quick!
