Review summary

Overall, a wonderful experience, with just a few hiccups, outlined more specifically below. We would definitely consider cruising again and highly recommend it to anyone seeking utter relaxation!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food selection was vast in the main dining hall, overall--there were multiple cultural cuisines, providing ample choice for everyone. However, we found that the dishes (including desserts) were repetitive for the entire duration of the cruise, with minor variations--and this was the case even in the fine dining restaurants. We got a bit bored of having to select from the same choices 3 times a day, for 12 days. On the bright side, almost everything we tried was very well prepared, except the Indian bread, which was pretty bad day after day (super hard, rendering it inedible.) One major negative experience with the dining was the bad smell in all the dinnerware. Our guess was that the smell built from wet dishes being stacked--for lack of a better way to describe the nature of the odor, the dishes smelled like a wet dog. Many times, we took dessert over to our room to be had later, and we'd find that the smell had latched on to the bottom of the cake/pastry. It was horrible.

Onboard Activities

The onboard activities were VERY diverse! Celebrity had a full schedule each day, with something for everyone. We were afraid we'd get bored with being at sea for 12 days, but that opportunity never arose once--pretty impressive!!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Eddy, the Cruise Entertainment Director, was beyond fabulous!! Jovial, funny, easy going, and approachable, he did a wonderful job with the events / shows! We were extremely impressed by the entertainment on-board...there was always something going on, and also, always something for everyone!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service and staff were par excellent--all the way from the Captain, to the Room Attendants!! There were ample crew members, making passengers feel extremely well attended to. We only had 2 bad experiences in 12 days: Ruth at the Casino Poker Table was rude and uninviting, and Terrence in Guest Relations seemed pretty upset with us that he had to work there...he had a very unfriendly and unapproachable attitude for someone who should be excelling in Customer Service, given his department of employment.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Excellent, through and through!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was awesome!! The only issue we experienced mid-cruise on one particular night was rattling and vibrations (strong enough to feel like an electric current passing through the body), which kept me awake almost all night.

Ship tip

We had a very enjoyable and memorable experience and highly recommend Celebrity Eclipse!! Please tip your attendants generously--we saw a documentary on Celebrity Eclipse that showed how the staff is made to work excruciatingly long hours for very little pay. It broke our hearts. :(
