Great Mediterranean Cruise, but a little lacking in on-board entertainment by atomicrooster

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The cruise was very good and the Celebrity Constellation was excellent. Everything was enjoyable, the food, the relaxation, the ship and the ports. A glaring weakness, and we are comparing to several other cruise lines, was the entertainment, or lack thereof. The exception were the evening shows which were exceptional. The entertainment staff appeared to be a few members short and/or may have been on a tight budget. For example, the DJ moonlighting as a trivia host seemed a little odd! It just didn't work. This was only one example. There were to numerous to mention!

Fantastic destinations by makandjak

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Our cruise was very enjoyable. Our shore excursions were jam packed with activities and they allowed us to see everything of importance within the time limitations given at each port. The food service was great, however the food was okay. Nothing to write home about.  The entertainment was top notch.

I had a great deep tissue massage in the spa but didn't appreciate the push to buy their outrageously priced products after the treatment. Other than that little bump in the road I would recommend this cruise if you want to see a lot of Europe in a short time.

Great Ship by oancea

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

the shore destinations are still open at 6pm. why cannot the excursions start at 9-10 am instead of 7-8am.  We could still get back to the ship and it sail at 7-8pm?

These 7:30am start times are not friendly to a relaxing vacation.

Italy and Croatia from Venice by MikefromCO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Thoroughly enjoyed the ports along the Adriatic Sea, especially Dubrovnik, as well as Taormina in Sicily. Rodica was particularly helpful with shore excursions and information plus attending to special needs. I would add here though that the activity level of the various tours should consider the walking time / distance to and from the buses as they were often lenghty. The food was excellent although not quite as good as previous Celebrity cruises. The wait staff were always courteous and attentive. Especially enjoyed the Ocean Liner Specialty restaurant. Quite often it took quite a long tome to get soft drinks and drinks from the bar in the buffet. It seemed as though it was always someone's else's job. On the plus side, Keisha (from Jamaica) in the Sunset Bar was so good, attentive and pleasant that a visit there was a daily must. Special order breakfasts ordered for the cabin were exceptional and always on time. Can definitely recommend this particular cruise.

about average by golightly99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Celebrity's website is quite bad and it's difficult to get sufficient information, especially about shore excursions.  Was constantly being advised to check back later.  An email I sent through their site was sent back undeliverable.  Reviews are often not even of the cruise/excursion in question.  They really need to overhaul their entire IT department.  Apparently they no longer bother to send out luggage tags and you have to print your own.

Our room was uncomfortably warm despite having it looked at twice.  My alarm clock also displays temperature so these numbers are not just guesses.  Despite keeping it to the coolest setting possible are room was an average of 75 degrees.  The lowest it ever went was 72 degrees, and at one point it actually reached an extremely miserable 82 degrees.  I'm wondering if this is a Celebrity problem as the same thing happened on a cruise last year but at least we were given a fan to use (and a partial credit toward a future cruise, which is why we gave them a second chance).  This time we were told no fan was available and it was uncomfortable a large portion of the time.  75 degrees is not air conditioning!

Smaller things, like small cheap bath towels, absolutely no food of any kind available after 1 am, etc...

Positive things too though, like tasty food, friendly staff (sommelier Richard is quite nice), was able to request a body pillow.  Our itinerary was changed mid cruise due to the labor strikes in Greece and the staff at guest relations were helpful in placing ship to shore calls for us so we could adjust out plans accordingly.  Unfortunately, a few nights later when we inquired about rumored metro strikes in Athens we were given misinformation which pretty much ruined that day for us.

some good some bad by rwazu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The itinerary was what I liked best. Most of the entertainment was excellent , especially the Beatles group and the house band. The cabin service  and dining service were also excellent

.

The aqua class restaurant Blu had a repetitive menu and overall I thought San Marco had better selections . Most starters and salads , soups and deserts were excellent . The steak was tough and only moderately tasty.

I encountered a problem at check in , our sea passes were not with the others ,after 10 minutes we were brought to another desk where I was told I had an additional $12.00 due but had to see guest relations desk .I did not need this useless delay after a long day of travel. When I asked what the charge was for ,and they did not know and had to call Miami .I went back the next  two days and they still did not know and credited my account the $ 12.00.

Another communications lapse occurred when I got Norovirus and saw the nurse ,  was given Imodium and  antibiotics and an elixir for cramps . and sent to my cabin . I felt fine in the morning and headed for the buffet for breakfast , our housekeeper spotted me and told me I was to stay in my cabin till released , hence missed best port of Ephesus . I was stuck with room service with a lousy menu ,best thing on it was a B L T, hardly cruise fare . The following day I go back to Guest Relations and ask if  there is any reimbursement for missed day  due to Norovirus outbreak ,told me there was no outbreak. There were 22 cases , 6 from  Blu , do the math .They were cleaning constantly pushing handcleaner at every venue. They said would send info to my cabin , when I got nothing I asked again , only to get nothing , then I asked when I would get It . They replied  tonight by 8pm. Went back at 8pm and was told it was on the way .Got it at about 830pm last night . It promised an unknown credit amount on a future cruise expiring in one year . Why should it expire and what is the amount?

The crew were outstanding except for guest relations and  nurse with lack of communication.

Having last sailed on the Eclipse I could not recommend the Constellation to others . I would tell them to go Solstice class.

Wonderful Constellation! by mrvermont

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

It had been over a decade since we were on the Constellation and I can state that it is still a wonderful ship in remarkable condition.  The crew was wonderful which might be a reflection of the Captain who was approachable and very visible throughout the trip.  The Dalmatian coast itinerary lived up to it's expectations and we would select this ship again without reservation.  The shore excursions and shuttles buses ran like clock work.  The only very minor criticism I would make is who ever selects the "music" for the Oceanview Cafe should be locked in a room and required to listen to it.  Overall another wonderful trip on Celebrity!

Just Right for Us by jtcruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

My husband and I just returned back from this cruise on the Celebrity Constellation.  It was a fantastic cruise.  The Constellation is the perfect size ship for us.  I am not an extreme fan of the Mega-Mega ships, because I feel that too many passengers causes the loss of that "Cruise-feel".  We loved the coziness, classic design of the Constellation.  It was small enough that you got to know the staff on board and the other passengers.  The Itinerary was amazing! Loved the ports of call mixed with just enough At Sea time.  The weather was perfect for touring - as it was not yet "beach" weather.  We also enjoyed the tours provided by Celebrity.  This cruise was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary  and I have to say it did the trick.  The staff on the cruise was friendly and helpful.  We had an outside cabin and it was roomy enough for what we needed.  We also have to say that this is probably one of the biggest showers we have experienced on a cruise ship.  Everything was clean and in working condition. The entertainment on the cruise was great and they probably have some of the best "cruise cast singers" that we have seen also.  Although this is only our second cruise on Celebrity, we have been on well over 40 cruises, so we are well experienced to be able to judge good from bad.  As the title of my comments states - this cruise was just right for us!

Med Cruise 4/15/2016 by jkurth1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The cruise was fantastic, the only thing that would have made this excellent was the Stateroom's Bathroom.   It stunk from the time we arrived until about a day before departure, when the crew cleaned it with Clorox.

Really enjoyed the experience by sallygadomski

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

the ship added to the enjoyment. It the right size to get to know other passengers and the entertainment was first class. Service and food were very good as well. Really the only thing I could think of that needs a face lift was the shore excursions. The desk obviously had not done the tours themselves. They were unable to answer questions or make alternative suggestions regarding such things as required walking would food be available and restrooms. The consergier was no help with this either and had a take it or leave it attitude. At the price we left it.

This being said we enjoyed the rest of the cruise and look forward to many more.

Foreign Departure by comberiate

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Considering that a foreign departure is more difficult to reach, the selection of the ports more than made it worth the effort.  It was nice to have so many quality places to visit, both using the Celebrity excursions and navigating on our own. A very memorable experience.  Combine the cruise with both pre and post visits to Italian cities via a rental car.

Our experiance by bruceeckard

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Transatlantic

This was the first trans-atlantic cruise for us. It was a great experience, the food was great, the crew was great(from the wait staff, cabin crew to the officers) the entertainment was great. The ship was well maintained and this is a credit to the Captain. We have taken several cruises to the Caribbean for shorter time periods and this ship and crew measures with the best.

There of course were small blips, such as a pipe breaking but that type of thing is unpreventable.

Celebration cruise to Italy by revieuw

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Transatlantic

LoveWe love cruising with Celebrety. This cruise was not really for us. Too long at sea. Not enough stops.

It was our first time, cruising over to Europe. The service, entertainment and food was like always, outstanding. We loved, loved Maarten, the Belgian cruise director. He did a fantastic job! A keeper! The waiters in the restaurant, did their very best to serve us like kings.Kudos!

The ship itself, was too cold all the time. The temp outside was cool, so why the high airco?

The music in the main diningroom, was too loud overall as well. They adjusted it sometimes, but mostly too loud.

I suggested previously, to install enlargement mirrors in the bathrooms. A lot of people are older and need those. Nobody cares, I suppose. Room attendants,10plus.

Had 3 personal training sessions with Santos. Excellent guy. He knows his stuff!

Anyway, we will cruise with celebrety in the future. Thanks! Chris Gotje.

Florida to Rome May 2016 by friesengeorge

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Transatlantic

Happy Very pleasant cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Rome or should I say Civitavecchia which is still a hour by train from Rome itself. The cruise was relaxed and entertainment extremely good. service st the dining table was also excellent.

The ongoing trip to Rome after arrival via Civitavechia was troublesome. This station could not accommodate the number of travellers. For travellers with suitcases it was very difficult to get to the platforms. Only stairs down and up again. There are no lifts or escalators and the platforms were crammed with people which I considered a safety hazard.

Very relaxing cruise by surfeitess

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Transatlantic

My wife and I thought this was the most relaxing cruise we had ever taken, and at a bargain fare. We did not eat in the specialty restaurants, but found the main dining room and buffet food fairly good, the entertainment consistently entertaining, and lectures on the history of Rome and great trials interesting (though we did not attend those about modern aviation). We had not previously been to the three ports we visited on this cruise, but they were good choices, and we would in particular enjoy spending time on Madeira again. The Constellation is a very steady ship, and we encountered only one day with any rolling to speak of.
