Review summary

We had a large family group oh 18. Everyone had a great time. A cruise allows everyone to do their own thing or to spend time together as they choose.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We boarded the ship in Venice. It was the easiest and quickest check in I've ever experienced. No lines!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food is always excellent on Celebrity. We did not try any of the specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was plenty to do on board. My wife and I loved the adults only solarium pool. The kids played basketball, soccer and watched the out door movies. The teens enjoyed the dances.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward and our head waiter were both outstanding.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had a total of 8 inside cabins. They were all spacious and comfortable. The kids were constantly moving from one room to another to do sleep overs with different cousins. The room stewards did everything they could with a smile to accommodate the kids.

Ship tip

Study the shore excursions, but it's usually best to book these on your own.

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

5 out of 5
We came in a day early and stayed at the hotel Ala.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

A great stop. You can see it in one day. Walk the wall. It's expensive, but worth it.

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
A beautiful old city.

Valletta, Malta

5 out of 5
Take the elevator to the pedestrian streets above. Ride the hop on hop off bus north and south of Valletta. Go to the Blue Grotto ( on the southern bus route). Mdina is a must see.

Catania, Sicily

5 out of 5
Again take the hop on hop off bus. The last stop before going back to the ship is the city center. Spend a couple of hours there.

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Our kids took the SNAV boat over to Capri for the day. Book it yourself, about 80% less than what it cost on the ship. We walked the streets of Naples. Get a good map. We followed Rick Steves walking tour. You can find it online.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
From the ship take the free shuttle to the port gate. (This can be difficult because there is no one from celebrity directing people where to go. Once you pick up your luggage they are done. Look around for buses with a sign in the window). Once at the port gate take the city bus €2 to the train station. €5 train to Rome Termini. You should stay a couple of nights in Rome. We stayed at the Hotel Pantheon. Great location, rooms and breakfast.

Disembarkation

It's very early, but the process was well organized. My only suggestion would be that Celebrity needs to have someone outside the luggage pick up area directing people. There was a large crowd of people standing around looking at each other wondering where to go.
