Review summary

We would probably give this cruise a 3.5 out of 5 but we went with the lower because it didn't quite live up to our expectations. Since food seems to be the main focus on cruises, we thought the food was average. The specialty restaurants had good food but the buffet and main dining rooms were average. The ship was dated and though they might have upgraded the ship, they didn't seem to do that with the regular staterooms. The activities were ok and they had some good lectures which were appreciated. Communication needs to improve with special occasions. They forgot my wife's birthday on the day we scheduled it and then forgot it the next night even after I talked to a manager. He informed me that he put it in the system, but evidently didn't. We finally got it on the last night of our cruise after a friend of ours became insistent. The one saving grace for this cruise was the crew. Outstanding in every way from cabin attendants to servers.

The cabin could have used a little updating, but still good. Attendants were spectacular.

Ship tip

Geared for the older crowd, but it was relaxing.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

Celebrity shuttle is $5 per person to Livorno. Go to a tobacco shop and buy your bus (to train station) and train (to Pisa) round trip. Cost for two people was 16 euro.

Cartagena, Spain

5 out of 5
Great town and easily walkable. Don't take the city tour.

Agadir, Morocco

The souk in town is closed on Mondays. Don't pay for the $15 per person shuttle. Just hire a taxi for $30 for the day and let them take you on a private tour.

Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Don't pay for the shuttle bus which is $12 per person. If you are parked near the rental car office, take the free shuttle they offer. It is just past the paid shuttle from Celebrity. Celebrity will not tell you this.

Tenerife, Canary Islands

Another charming town that is easy to walk. The main market closes at 2 PM so get there before that.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
