Review summary

This was our first time on Celebrity and it was definitely a more elegant feel to the ship than Royal Caribbean. We liked that there were fewer children and the activities were quite varied. The shows were amazing and we loved the non smoking casino. We haven’t abandoned RC but would definitely sail Celebrity again.

Embarkation

Delayed due to customs inspection after the transatlantic crossing but it was handled reasonably well with good communication.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Room Service

3 out of 5

The food was tasty but not very warm by the time it arrived.

The Martini Bar

3 out of 5

Amazing venue and fun to watch the nightly shows but it was difficult to get service unless you want to the bar.

Rooftop Garden Grill

4 out of 5

The food was good and plentiful. And we had a very dramatic backdrop as we sailed through a storm! We were offered a cancellation but apart from it being a little windy, we had no complaints.

Oceanview Café

5 out of 5

The best buffet we have experienced with really good food and plenty of choice. The design of the stations made it less prone to crowding. We ended up eating here more than the MDR.

Le Petit Chef and Friends

3 out of 5

A bit of a gimmick really but probably worth doing once.

Eden Restaurant

5 out of 5

A wonderful setting with incredible food. Our favourite speciality restaurant.

Onboard Activities

We did a fun mixology class and the escape room challenge. Other events were of interest but there was too much to do it all.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great shows in various venues. Enjoyed the comedian as well.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The crew were great though it seemed that numbers had been cut in some places. The stand out was the cruise director, Alejandro, who was great fun and also Captain Leo who didn’t mind being involved in the fun as well.

Cabin / Stateroom

We loved the infinite verandah as it made the room feel so bright and spacious, especially on the days the weather was not great. You still had a great view of the ocean without getting wet and windswept. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was more than adequate. We also found the cabin to be well situated and very quiet.

Ship tip

Smaller venues such as The Club and Eden fill quickly, so arrive early for shows.

Ports of call

Oranjestad, Aruba

Did an island tour which was good. Finished with time at Eagle beach. Lovely beach but very windy

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Grabbed a taxi to 7 mile beach. It rained a bit but we still enjoyed it.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

4 out of 5
Interesting island tour with two hours at the beach. Only a small island. Would explore on our own next time.

Willemstad, Curacao

4 out of 5
Beautiful island. Weather was a little mixed. We only had half an hour at the beach stop, which was not long enough. Would choose a longer, independent tour next time.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
A bit disorganised at first but the lines then moved quickly.
