We had a wonderful time. The ship is gorgeous! Captain Kate was charming and very visible around the ship. We particularly enjoyed the bartenders at Craft Social, the redesigned Sunset Bar, the smoothies at the Spa Cafe, lunch at Raw on 5, dinner at Eden, the main theater production cast, and the walking track. See my cabin review for my experience with the loud cabin noises that many have written about and how Guest Relations made it up to us. We love Celebrity and can’t wait to plan our next cruise!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We never stopped moving. We were on the ship by 11:45 am.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
This was one area of disappointment. The food quality varies in the main dining rooms, which was somewhat expected. What wasn’t expected was tough or overcooked entrees in Le Voyage. Lesson learned - say something, and the outstanding staff will make it right. Also, the food at Mast Grill was very food but the service was unnecessarily slow and uncoordinated. Raw on 5 was outstanding for lunch - we did it twice!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There were plenty of activities to do…or not do. Morning tai chi and stretching were surprisingly popular. We opted to bar hop and people watch more than partake in activities, but that was our personal preference.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The performances by the Theater cast were wonderful. Great singing, excellent dancing, all supported by the beautiful scenes that unfolded on the massive screens. We were disappointed that they didn’t perform Arte on our sailing, though. We were somewhat disappointed with the Eden cast. The singing and dancing were much less impressive than on our Apex cruise and paled in comparison to the Theater cast. Savannah Smith was an outstanding guest performer! Ukebox was fun - we saw their show in the theater but not the one in The Club.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We received the same outstanding customer service as we always have on Celebrity. Everyone greeted us with a smile and a hello, and it was easy to reciprocate. We particularly enjoyed our cabin steward and our server and sommelier in Raw on 5.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The most beautiful ship! The improvements and additions made from prior Edge Class ships are all big wins. We especially enjoyed the Sunset Bar’s new design.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin is large and has a massive veranda with two chaises and two chairs. We loved it. However, the cabin experiences the loud banging/creaking sounds that many have complained about. When seas weren’t flat, we felt the ship shuddering constantly - the same feeling as when the ship docks. I believe that is what caused the noises. On Day 6, we finally had had enough of lost sleep and called guest relations. They offered to let us sleep in another cabin but couldn’t guarantee that the issue wouldn’t exist there too. We declined. The next day, they sent engineering staff to our deck and in our cabin to investigate and make minor fixes which reduced the noise somewhat (but again, didn’t do anything about the shuddering. Guest relations called and apologized and offered a generous future cruise credit for our inconvenience which was much appreciated.
Ship tip
The walking track is amazing! We walked it every day. Great exercise and great for people watching!
The port area is very sanitized but nice. We did the Damajagua Waterfalls excursion through the ship. The waterfalls were good but the hike to get there involved a lot of stopping to wait for groups ahead of us. The guides didn’t bring a lot of energy to their jobs. We preferred the waterfall and hot springs excursion that we had done in Dominica a few years ago to this one. But the island is beautiful!
We walked to the ferry to Water Island and enjoyed a day on Honeymoon Beach. The Painkillers at Dinghy’s are delicious! But shhh, don’t tell anyone about this hidden gem!
