Celebrity Apex

7 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: April 01, 2023

Ship: Celebrity Apex

Cabin number: 3183

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Review summary

The cruise was enjoyable, but I don't think I would ever cruise on the APEX again. Just didn't have the amenities I enjoy - nighttime movies and too many kids around the pool because they didn't have an area for themselves with a pool.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was excellent, but if you are a non-drinker you did get snubbed and have limited choices during the evening.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Only one outdoor pool for all guests, children included - became very crowded on sea days.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Magician was very good, but the stage shows were okay (singers too screechy). No nighttime movies except one night - not much to enjoy if you are not a gambler or drinker.

Ship tip

If you want to relax and like music - it is a great ship. If you don't want to see kids all day everyday - not your ship.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Bicycle tour was incredible and our guide Gary Beach was amazing!

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
We did the cave tubing tour - which was an amazing experience. But the island did not seem very inviting from what we saw.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
The storms have really destroyed the beaches and atmosphere in Cozumel. Went on a open-top tour and beach stop. Tour was informative, but we were taken to an area where the shop owners were very aggressive and a bit off-putting! Beach was filled with seaweed and just dirty feeling.

George Town, Grand Cayman

We went on a relaxing beach day that included lunch, beach chairs and access to the water. Celebrity's area was mostly covered in shade and quite cramped.

Celebrity normally doesn't have a lot of kids except school holidays. For a guaranteed kid free experience, try Virgin.

Avoid cursing during school break and eliminate the kid problem. I was on the Apex in February and there were less than a dozen kids on the entire ship. Celebrity isn’t really kid friendly, so I feel for those whose parents drug them along.
