The staff of the Celebrity Apex is the best I’ve ever encountered. The food was beyond amazing and the ship is gorgeous. The vibe is very relaxed but the dress code is not. We saw several people turned away from the dining room because of their attire. Everything you need to know is in the app.
Embarkation

Fifteen minutes from the terminal to the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
AMAZING FOOD. We didn’t do any specialty dining because the main dining room food was so good, we didn’t think it was worth spending money on. The Cosmopolitan and Cyprus dining rooms were our favorites. Desserts in the dining room and the lunch buffet were out of this world.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
This area is where Celebrity really lacks. Looking at the activities listed in the app, the vast majority of them were sales. They literally had a Marlboro cigarette sale listed as an activity. It was a very relaxing week, but you definitely have to make your own fun.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Some of the shows were shockingly bad. We had heard such great things so it was a letdown to see some of the performances. The guys who stumbled and tripped around the stage pretending to be blind while performing Stevie Wonder was a low point.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Absolutely the best service and staff. The room attendant, dining staff, coffee shop staff, everyone was so friendly and helpful. We were completely spoiled all week. I always make a list of names for the post cruise survey, but this time I feel like I need to list everyone who works on the ship.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is beautiful. The common areas were always neat and clean and there was artwork everywhere you turned. There were only two banks of elevators which lead to long waits. The Apex also lacked the typical glass elevators that overlook the main atrium.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We booked a panoramic ocean view room, which was gorgeous and bright and roomy. Unfortunately it flooded, so we were upgraded to an infinite veranda cabin. These are basically just large windows that open. I didn’t care for it at all, and it’s definitely not something I’d pay extra for. The doors that separate the veranda area from the room creaked all day and night, even when locked in place. Opening the window made the cabin instantly hot and humid. I prefer a traditional veranda.
Ship tip
Try all of the dining rooms, and check out the buffet at lunch. Their French bread is absolutely amazing.
We walked around Old San Juan and had dinner at El Campeon. We tried almost all the appetizers, which were great, but the coconut mojito was beyond delicious.
I’m not going to lie, the drive to the beach had me fearing for my life. The island is more mountainous than others I’ve visited, so I wasn’t prepared. But Cane Garden Bay was beautiful.
