Review summary

The Celebrity APEX continues to provide passengers with enjoyable experiences at sea and interesting excursions in ports. Crew members work hard to make passengers feel comfortable and keep the ship clean and functioning properly. There’s always something to do onboard APEX from enter

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent, smooth, and fast from terminal to ship!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Although food selection was more limited than ever before (due to our economic situation), the food was as good as ever. Service was excellent in all of the dining venues. Throughout the ship, passengers were well taken care of by a hard working crew. Smiles and good service from the crew in all areas of the ship. The entertainment was awesome throughout all venues (Eden, The Club, Theater, and other areas).

Oceanview Cafe

5 out of 5

Due to economic conditions at this time, the Oceanview has a smaller amount of food selections. The food that is still provided at the Oceanview is great, and the staff is happy to serve passengers.

Tuscan Restaurant

5 out of 5

Unlike the Tuscan Restaurant on other Celebrity class ships, this restaurant is one of the four main dining restaurants onboard APEX. It provides excellent dinners with great staff to serve passengers.

Cyprus Restaurant

5 out of 5

Excellent meals for dinner each night.

Café Al Bacio

5 out of 5

Excellent service and great sweets

Normandie Restaurant

5 out of 5

Great food, great service, and awesome management create a great atmosphere for a meal at dinner onboard APEX.

Cosmopolitan Restaurant

5 out of 5

Excellent wait staff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Good food at all meals served. It is closed on Port days for lunch.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pools were full of passengers, but there were slow times. Regular Celebrity activities such as dancing, exercising, arts & crafts, trivia, and various activities were held throughout each day.

Guest Relations Desk

5 out of 5

Friendly crew staffed by knowledgeable and helpful individuals. The crew members sincerely want to help passengers with various situations.

Rooftop Garden

5 out of 5

Great area to relax or catch an outdoor movie. The garden is well cared for by a dedicated team of plant specialists. Enjoy this peaceful outdoor place onboard APEX on a daily basis.

iLounge

5 out of 5

Crowded on embarkation day and sea days. These crew members do their very best to provide passengers with WiFi.

The Theatre

5 out of 5

Both the crew entertainers and the guest entertainers provide excellent shows twice nightly in the theater. It has an expensive LED display to provide background for the shows. The APEX has a unique theater experience each night of your cruise.

The Grand Plaza

5 out of 5

Night time shows are twice daily with bartenders doing great stunts and the chandler produces a great light show complete with music.

Destination Gateway

5 out of 5

Large enough to accommodate embarkation and disembarkation while in port.

Casino

5 out of 5

Organized and like all casinos, it’s skill or luck.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Divas 3-Vocalists Robbie Printz-Comedian Crystallize-APEX cast John Rotellini-Mentalist Tree of Life-APEX cast Rockumentary-APEX cast Theater shows daily at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. All of the shows were well attended with standing ovations at their conclusions. I have to say from personal experiences onboard the other EDGE class ships, the entertainment has been amazing.

The Club

5 out of 5

Indoor bar area with the capability to be converted to an entertainment performance center. The actors, dancers, singers, and acrobats provide some super interactive entertainment here.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every crew member that I came in contact with was friendly, and hard working. The officers were visible, and the Captain had a great personality. He spent time with any passenger that stop him to talk or take a photo with him. I dined in all 4 Main Dining Restaurants, and service, as well as food was great. Corporate decisions limited menu item selections onboard, but everything that I ordered came hot, quick, and ready to enjoy.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It’s an EDGE class ship, so don’t expect the smaller Millennium class atmosphere. Deck 5 has EDEN in the aft, but once you have figured that out, it’s an easy ship to navigate. (Pun intended!) Deck 12, and above in the forward is the Luminae, Retreat (for Suite guests), and spa areas for Aqua Class, as well as passengers wishing to get spa services performed. Check out the first day’s SPA TASTERS (free short massages).

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was comfortable, clean, and it had a decent amount of space for the week’s cruise.

Ship tip

Enjoy your cruise, and realize that all cruise lines are being influenced by the world’s economic situation.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
The port is very busy. Prepare for delays when more ships are in port. Celebrity uses new technologies (photo-face scanners) for disembarkation.

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Easy to get around. Tours and services are close to the port.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
Tender boat operation port

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Two main port areas for docking. Make sure you get the correct port before going out on your own.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Tender boat operation port

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and easy, but the weather was much colder than the weather when we left and during the cruise. Be prepared for those real winter days in Florida when the wind chill makes it 40° or lower.
