Review summary

This was a nice cruise nothing special, but nothing bad either in spite of the engine troubles, except for food quality/portions in the dining room, dining room service, host service in the steakhouse and the line for JiJi and Cucina at lunch..and don’t get me started on the scooters! There must have been 100s of them…clogging up the elevators and parking in the middle of walkways( I have the pics to prove it). It became a running joke for us to count them when we left our room..I always had to stop and wait for them to roll by before I could move! It seems like it is a safety hazard and Carnival should limit the amount of scooters on the ship at one time( maybe require people to add that they will be using a scooter when making reservations…it was out of control! Hosts/ hostesses in specialty dining need to take a class in hosting and customer service

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
This is the first time sailing Carnival that I have been disappointed in food quality/ portions / selections in the dining room….Also, in the steakhouse, we were seated in a back dining room next to a wall on one side and another couple on the other..in spite of having a reservation we waited 30 minutes and watched as they seated everyone else in the front room and then put us in the worst table possible …I was facing the window and moving against the motion of the ship instead of with it and started to get motion sickness..which I neverget……it seems as if the steakhouse was overbooked..there should be a limit on the number of reservations they take for a particular time…

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Did one round of trivia, but there weren’t many activities to go to like a wine tasting or cooking class or crafts..it seemed like all they were focused on was the art auction or jewelry sales…. Bingo was a joke..there were 6-8 winners for every game! Didn’t wish to do THAT a second time!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
One performer stood out Jaden guitarist/ singer and I would give him a 5! The house band was not good at all it sounded like someone was killing a cat! and some songs the violinists were playing didn’t make us want to stay and listen..We unfortunately didn’t make it to the piano bar but word of mouth was that he was very good

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Most of the staff were pretty good…It was noticeable in the dining room(Horizons) however that the wait staff would take your order, drop off your food and then disappear..if you had a glass of wine, they were not around to order a second…also when it came time to sign our bill..we could sit and wait for 20-30 minutes and no one would present a bill…guess they didn’t want an extra tip that I would always leave because I am a waitress. Our steward was very good and efficient. Nengah (Ninja) and the Havana bartender Louie and Oceans Plaza bartender Eugenia were also notable

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I love the layout and design of this ship (my 3rd time on Vista class) and the ship was very clean! And for people wondering about the AC….YES it works…very well…unless you are up on Lido and the doors are always open because there are thousands of people up there going in and out…I wore a sweater on Deck 5 and in Bars and restaurants most of the time…but Im from Florida so……

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We love the Havana Cabanas and specifically sail Carnival for this reason…without Havana, you might as well sail on another ship! My only complaint is that they waited until Day 6 to completely fill the Havana pool so it flows over the sides and into the area under the thatched roof where you can sit and put your feet in the water…this is something that was needed on extremely hot August days!

Ship tip

Watch out for all of the scooters! They are everywhere!!

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
It was a long wait and in spite of digital debarkation, people just went anyway because they were going to miss their flights since we were late arriving due to storms and engine troubles

Shrimp tempura in Bonsai Sushi This eyesore ( a chair for lowering handicapped people in the water) sits in the middle of the Havana pool and is never used because it is broken and always has been according to staff…..The Horizon doesn’t have this Outdoor Havana Bar Cruising around with one propeller working Louie serving mudslides in Havana Bar Vista in San Juan St Thomas..view from Paradise Point

Thank you for your detailed review. Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Not sure but I thought Carnival put a restriction on the size of scooters so they would fit into staterooms.
