Review summary

This is one of my favorite sizes and class of ships. It has a good variety of things to do and places to eat and drink. The Lido deck can get very busy and crowded but that is to be expected. We always found a seat at the activities and shows we wanted to attend. A July trip to the Caribbean is very hot and humid but the ports are beautiful and Half Moon Cay is one of my favorite places to spend time in the ocean and at the beach.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was excellent, very quick and efficient through the port. We started the check in process at 10:20 and were on board and finished our muster drill and found a seat on Lido before 11:00.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
As always, food is very subjective. I do not enjoy the newer menus in the MDR, there are only a few things that we choose to eat from there and spend a lot of time at the specialty restaurants. Chef's Table is always a win, as is the Steakhouse. We also ate at Ji Ji's for lunch and for dinner. We also ate Bonsai Sushi several times and it was excellent, they were very good about taking off the yuzo mayo from my sushi roll and asking about allergies and special food requests at every specialty restaurant. We didn't eat much at the buffets but the salad bar on Serenity and BlueIguana Cantina are my favorite places. The lines were VERY long at the Pig and Anchor, Pizza and Guy's Burgers constantly. Pack your patience!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Love the Sky Ride and Rope Course. The pools were great because it was a very hot trip. Due to the heat and humidity we did not use a lot of the outdoor activities just because of the weather.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The comedians and bands are always excellent on Carnival. They really do a great job finding talent. Loved all the different live music areas. The Playlist Production team was really good, they were just finishing their contract during our trip. Their show (I cannot remember the name, Fini or something) based off movies was fantastic. Seems like they stepped it up on this show for sure!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff on board is amazing. Loved our Room Steward and the bar tenders in the Havana Bar, Red Frog Pub and the Atrium. They are fantastic people.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was kept really clean and they were constantly working on keeping it that way. I don't love the layout of deck 5 with the Alchemy Bar, it gets really crowded there but overall this class of ship is my favorite.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This is one of my favorite rooms. It is a little small but works perfectly for 2.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Beautiful place but pack your bug spray. I was bite over 20 times in 12 hours.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
Want to return. Beautiful beaches and area. Loved the jet skis and snorkaling.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Grand Turk is a wonderful port. We went on the ATV ride. It was a nice way to see the island. We came prepared with goggles, a face mask/neck gaiter, closed toe shoes, sunscreen and long sleeve UV shirts otherwise we would have been eating dust and been burnt.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Beautiful place, would love to explore more. The pool and port area was very busy with 2 ships but overall it is a nice place.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was easy but we were one of the last groups off since we had a late flight.
