Review summary

Overall we had a wonderful time, we went with 16 family members and had no major hiccups. Takeways were the food in the main dining room could be improved slightly, announcements need to be offered in more ways than just over a speaker where you miss important information if you are in your cabin at the time. There needs to be more signs by the elevators pointing you to main areas and there were a lot of slippery floors.

Embarkation

The airport transfers to/from the port went smoothly however it would have been nice to receive directions on where to go in the airport to catch the shuttle. Getting onto the ship was busy but organized and there were lots of employees around to help with any questions.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
This was our first cruise in over 20 years and the food quality has declined. The food/menu's in the main dining room was pretty good but not spectacular. The Chef's Table meal was excellent however we had a very hard time understanding the chef due to his accent. It was noisy and hard to hear but it was a great experience overall. However we did get a call to confirm our reservation and she had the wrong date and time. My sister had to go to guest services to get it sorted. You should have signs at the smaller buffets on the Lido deck that state the large main buffet is open and has food. We also had no idea you were supposed to check in on the app for breakfast. Due to this we were sat in a sparse area where the service was terrible. Once we knew to check in on the app going forward the breakfasts were very good in the main dining room. The burgers everyday by the pool were awesome!

Onboard Activities

Plenty of variety and things to do! Nice that there were three pools since they have to be on the small side.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We are musicians' ourselves and the Vista Rock Band was our favorite!! Bo, Brooke, Nick, Arthur, and Felippe were all amazing people and their music/entertaining was top notch! We loved the rock show. The DJ/music by the pool was awesome.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

Everyone was helpful and nice, only one bad experience with a female employee who was not helpful when we were trying to disembark at one of the ports.

Ship Quality

The ship's design was confusing and there were NO SIGNS to help! For example since not all floors connect to every part of the ship you should have a sign by the elevator with directions to the main spaces. Such as "if you are trying to reach the Reflections dining room walk down to the next set of elevators and go down one level." The biggest issue was not understanding sometimes you need to go to AFT or Forward to reach a specific room. We also could not believe the amount of slippery surfaces throughout the ship. We saw three people slip and fall badly, one resulted in almost breaking her nose and blood was gushing. Two were by the pool and one was outside of the reflections dining room on the way to the woman's bathroom by the main lobby. The woman who slipped should not have been wearing kitten heals but still. I almost slipped several times by the pool even though I had good shoes on and was being very careful. Cleanliness was pretty good in all areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

Loved our cabin, no issues!

Ship tip

Be careful when walking, definitely pack a carry on bag with bathing suits and a change of clothes as our luggage took several hours to arrive.Pay more attention to announcements!

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

We did not realize or hear the announcement that we were supposed to get a zone pass to disembark off the ship. YOU SHOULD PRINT ALL DAILY ANNOUNCEMENT AND PUT IN CABINS. Or add to the app or TV screen. We stood in line to get off the ship only to be turned away and told come back at noon for general boarding. I had bought an excursion and did not think to mention it to the employee who turned us away. SHE should have asked "did you book an excursion." We ended up going to guest services to complain and the employee was VERY helpful and told us because we booked an excursion we did not require a zone pass to get off the ship. She personally walked us down and got us off the ship. But that hiccup delayed us by over an hour and I had family waiting. I cannot stress this enough - we should not have to depend on announcements we can't hear clearly for important information.

We LOVED Margaritaville!!

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Beautiful and nice shops.

Disembarkation

Overall went smoothly, we chose to carry our own luggage. We were confused that the relaxation areas seemed to not match up - it said 4, 5 and 10 but the announcement only said 5 and 10. Luckily we were in an area by the elevators where an employee announced "if you are ready to get off the ship come with me on the elevator to 3" - so we did not have to wait for our specific time and got off the boat earlier than we thought which was very nice.

Welcome back to cruising. Yes, things have changed considerably in the last 20 years. Appreciate your feedback. Sorry you felt like you didn’t get enough information regarding the tender system. Glad you still managed to enjoy most of your cruise.

Very thorough review. For tender ports, a letter about boarding the shuttle boats is delivered to your cabin's mailbox 2 days prior to anchoring with instructions as well as announcements made after the curtain call of the main theater production or games the night before on where to get tender tickets. Also, for tender port excursions and beach rentals, instructions are printed on the ticket or envelope as to which lounge to go to for a group escort to the tenders.
