Waited 2 years to take this cruise on the Vista. Love Carnival Cruise Lines but I may have to try another cruise line to mmix it up. Thus far, the Magic was the most fun ship thanks to Doctor E (cruise director). He was the best!
Embarkation

Had to wait in line for over 3 hours to board the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We did not use the dining rooms. Buffet served a lot of the same foods over and over. We had breakfast buffet almost every day. Guys burgers were the best!
Onboard Activities

Imax was great but expensive. Could not see the ice carving as people were blocking the view. Casino was cool but dislike having to inhale cigarette smoke while inside the casino. Grandson enjoyed basketball court. He didn't want to swim as there were too many small children in the swimming pools. He's 14 and almost 6 ft tall. Enjoyed shopping at the Fun Shops.
Entertainment

Shows and Comedy club were awesome!
Children's Programs

My grandson signed up for the 12-14 year old club and really enjoyed it.
Service and Staff

Personnel was on point. Always ready to help. Our cabin stew, Volter, was very pleasant and helpful.
Ship Quality

Common areas were clean and well-maintained. People just tend to leave dishes all over the place. Especially on the floor, outside their cabins. Yuck! Major concern...the floor in our hallway felt like it was soft and was going to fall out from under us. Felt like it had water damage and they just laid thicker carpet padding under it to fix it. Ships layout is similar to the other Carnival ships we've been on thus far.
Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was nice and very clean. My grandson had to sleep on what would normally be a couch and it was not very comfortable at all. The offer of a thin memory foam pad would have been a blessing.
Ship tip
Discover everything the ship has to offer in increments.
The port has parking down to a science. Unfortunately, I had booked parking at a different location, Drove up to Lot B (where we usually park) and they said that wasn't the right parking lot. They wouldn't let me exit so I could go find the correct parking lot so I ended up paying two parking fees. Not cool!
Love Cozumel. We did the Xenses Park excursion. It was cool but my grandson was not allowed to swim as I (his guardian) on this cruise, was not with him. I couldn't walk that far as I have lingering effects from a stroke and can't walk very long distances or climb a lot of stairs. The park does not lend itself to disabled ticket holders. I would not have booked this excursion had I known their restrictions.
Anchored at sea but ferry's and water taxis worked like a well-oiled machine. Kudos to them! Excursion at Goff's Caye was great! Snorkeling & beach time was awesome. Lunch they provided - not so great. All three of us agreed on the food.
First time at this port. They have invested a lot of money on this port and it shows! Much appreciated! Love their shopping area as you enter the site. Sol y Mar excursion was awesome. The buses were air conditioned and well taken care of. Kudos! The Sol y Mar beach site was great. We loved it! Food was good but they needed more waitresses taking drink orders. They also need to add more hammocks in the water. Spread them out a little so more folks can enjoy them, etc.
I requested wheelchair assistance and that made disembarking much easier on me. I appreciate this service immensely, as I still want to be able to cruise.
The best food & service is in the Main dining room in my opinion (on all Carnival ships) They will get you just about anything you want to eat & multiple entees if you ask. :)
My favorite cruise so far was on the Dream because of the The Flying Scotsman. The Magic is my favorite ship, but we had Gary Blair and he fell a little flat for me. I agree that a cruise director can make a ship more fun. But for me, a cruise is a cruise and I love them.
