The ship not recognizing your big day should not have put a dent on the day. You're on vacation and with that special person, you should have made it special not the ship. Our 43rd anniversary was on Vista this past December, we had shirts made acknowledge that it was our 43rd and everyone congratulated us, from passengers to staff. We didn't expect that, but it did put a special bow on our day.

Pro tip: before sailing in your cruise manager there is a spot in booking details. There you can select 3 options for celebrations. 1. Birthday 2. Anniversary 3. Honeymoon It might not count for much, however happy belated birthday.

Over the years I've had plenty of promises from the PVPs that weren't met. I quit worrying about them and just asked on the ship when I wanted something. What was more disenheartening was on a Royal Caribbean cruise when I spoke with both the maitre d and our own waiter about acknowledging my wife's birthday and got nothing at all.

For future reference, you can purchase stateroom decorations in advance along with arranging something with your waiter or the maitre D' to celebrate a special occasion during a nice meal. My wife and I have done both for numerous occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and our honeymoon.

Definitely print any precruise communications you had with your cruise planner and/or the cruise director about promises to recognize this special milestone and email them to guestcare@carnival.com . Believe it or not punitive actions will be dealt to the employee that did not fulfill a promised experience even if all it is are deductions of their negotiation chits for their next contract.

My mind is boggled….. u have thousands of ppl on a cruise ship often celebrating many important events. If u want recognition/celebration then u have to specifically ask for it and pay for it. Sorry for ur disappointment and happy belated birthday but good grief.
