Review summary

Although we were very disappointed in the itinerary change, we were just glad to get away for a few days. Mahogany Bay was ok. Not sure I'd want to visit there again, but was glad I was able to this time. Wasn't impressed by Belize at all and we absolutely loved Cozumel. The food on board the Vista was great and the service team did an amazing job everywhere we went on the ship. From Paolo our room steward to Delroy our lead server in the dining room, the service was outstanding! Everyone was so friendly and made you feel welcomed. We would definitely sail again on the Vista!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The dining room was exceptional for both breakfast and dinner! The food was so much better than the buffet. Guys Burgers were fantastic. I think I ate there for lunch 6 days.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn't do many activities. We watched Spiderman on the IMAX. Seen a couple of shows and comedy shows.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The 80's music stage show was awesome! The tribute to Marvin Gaye was just ok. The comedy shows were great as well.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Paolo (Paul) was fantastic! He knew our names from the first hour we were in our rooms. When we left for breakfast and came back our room was clean and beds were made and had fresh towels. The team lead server, Delroy, was one of the best in the dining room. He had a great personality and took such great care of us. He brought us as many appetizers and main dishes as we requested.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean and well kept. The staff did an amazing job keeping the tables cleaned of dirty dishes as you ate. My only complaint would be that the pools were small and crowded.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was ready by 1:30. Our bags were waiting at the door when we arrived. There was plenty of room for me and my friend. We had 2 twin beds that were a 7 out of 10 on comfort. The restroom was larger than I was expecting. Luckily our other 2 friends were next door so we were able to open the door between our balconies to give us easy access to each other's cabin. The fridge wasn't very cold, but kept our bottled water cool enough to drink.

Ship tip

Get a room in the middle of the ship close to the elevator. It will save you a ton of walking.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
Galveston is, well, Galveston. Nothing much to write about here.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
We went to Mahogany Bay. Spent $14 for the ski lift ride to the beach, $24 for the pair of chairs with an umbrella directly behind other chairs with umbrellas that blocked the view of the ocean. Ordered one drink for $17 with a $3 tip. A little on the expensive side. The water was nice and the beach itself was nice.

Belize City, Belize

Was not very happy when the itinerary changed from Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands to Belize and Mahogany Bay. Heard nothing but bad things about Belize and the crime there, so we were afraid to do an excursion here. We walked around the port then headed back to the ship. They all sell the same trinkets and shirts, etc. so there wasn't much to see here.

Cozumel, Mexico

First of all the port was clean and very modern. I felt much safer here than Belize. We took a $17 cab ride to Mr Sanchos. The cab driver asked immediately if we already had reservations there, otherwise they wouldn't take us. We made reservations several months ago and only cost $5 a person to reserve. The total cost is $60, all inclusive. They greeted you as you walked in and took you straight to a table with an umbrella by the ocean. They guy also took our towels and reserved 4 beach chairs on the beach in front of our table. They have massage therapist on staff that come around offering you massages, manicures and pedicures. All 4 of us took them up on the massage offer and it was $35 well spent! The server immediately took our order for drinks and food as soon as we sat down. He came back often and even took drinks out to the edge of the water for those swimming that ordered drinks. The $60 was well spent here! Food was great!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were late pulling into port due to the evening storm, but debarkation was a breeze. We were able to go to the dining room and eat breakfast then go back to our room and grab our bags before heading up to the Lido deck to wait on them to call our group to debark. Line was much shorter for debarcation if you had a passport, but the line that used a birth certificate a nd drivers license moved pretty quickly.
