Ship: Carnival Vista

Review summary

I prefer the smaller older ships so I dont Love the Vista. But there is nothing wrong with it and others will love it. I also prefer the ships to look different, I like the old crazy decorations. The last 4 cruises I have been on, all the ships had the same exact decorations, and I didnt like that. I hate that Carnival is making all the new and remodeled ships the same.I mean update them, but use different colors or something so you know you are on a different ship. This has actually made me decide to try other lines. I want a new experience a ship that excites me and makes me want to explore and see everything. I love Carnival and will still cruise with them, but I will try others for the new experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All the food was great.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the aft pool and hottubs. Didn''t get to do the sky ride or ropes course.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were great. All the music was pretty good throughout ship.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Love the kids club

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Awesome bar servers. Waiters were friendly. Love almost all of Carnivals staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I missed the big atrium and glass elevators.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Had an inside for the first time. It fit our needs well, no problems at all.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
This cruise was in January so it was chilly a few days of this cruise. Not Galvestons fault, we just wont cruise from there in the winter again.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Great port. Has a big pool and a wonderful area when you get off ship. Great shopping, dolphins, pool. If you are trying to save money, great port to skip doing an excursion.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
Love love love Roatan. We went to little French Caye and it is the best. We stopped at a local gas station and got some awesome local food with drinks and snacks. Its cost under 5 bucks and they give you your change back in their currency. Great souvenir..

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
Stayed on ship with sick teenager but went here on last cruise. It has some great excursions but be prepared for lots of security and it's a very poor country. A lot if Americans cant handle it..

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Cozumel is ok, but I dont understand why so many people love it. The island itself is ugly, flat and barren. Not much to see and do. Beaches are not great. You can have a great time, but to me it just doesn't stand out at all.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Slow and crazy as all the others I have done.

I like the variety of decor, too. The older ships have so much personality! I also love having the atrium for people watching, string trios, bands, singers, end the Last Night balloon drops. After all, this is a Carnival! We have not yet been on a Vista class ship, but have friends who bemoan the lack of personality and atriums. We have a B2B on the Mardi Gras in the spring, but not sure it will be our "cup of tea!" This may send us back to the Spirit, Conquest, and Dream classes for future trips. Plenty of choices, thanks Carnival.

Glad you tried a different size of ship and now you know what you prefer what to book for your upcoming cruises.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We were not impressed with the Vista either. Glad you enjoyed your cruise, in spite of your disappointment!🛳

So far I've only been on smaller ships. But I honestly have no burning desire to cruise on one of the new mega ships with all the bells and whistles. I guess at my age I've become set in my ways, plus my hubs has mobility issues so a smaller ship means less walking for him.

We also love the mid-sized ships. The Conquest Class ships are our favorite
